Inspiration
The vastness and wonder of the universe
What it does
Is a simulation of a rocket blast-off onto another planet
How we built it
We used the Unity game engine and hosted it on the web using WebGL. Blender was used for some custom 3D models
Challenges we ran into
- Learning Unity and Blender from scratch in 36 hours
- Making the projectiles from the gun work right
- Using logic to create event actions in the world
- Implementing the Unity particle system for stars
- Constant crashes and slow loading
Accomplishments that we're proud of
- Making a functional game on short notice
- Everyone contributed to the game
- The completed visuals in the game, both the Blender assets and Unity-made objects
- A gun that can shoot projectiles
- The pathfinding Unity AI
- Sound for the rocket countdown
What we learned
- How to use GIT
- How to use Unity and Blender
- How to host a Unity game on the web
- How to code in C-Sharp
- Making scripts in Unity and 3D assets in Blender
- Working together as a functional team
What's next for SpaceEXE
- Completing models for the player and Planet X enemy
- Implementing a health and damage system with the gun
- Improving upon the world visuals for a more immersive experience
- Refactoring code to contain no redundant lines and refine readability
