Inspiration

We both enjoy playing Minecraft and watching Minecraft content creators. Speedrunning the game ('completing' the game as quickly as possible) has become a popular trend recently due to the popular Minecraft Youtuber Dream, and I know a lot of people, my friends included, have been attempting it. However, it is quite difficult for beginners to learn, as there are so many different strategies and tricks.

What it does

This app allows players to see common items needed and steps to speedrun the game. There is also a timer for timing your speedrun.

How we built it

We built this using Overwolf, html, css, and javascript

Challenges we ran into

Our original idea was very different and much more complicated. After we refined our present idea, we had issues displaying the timer on the sidebar.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud that we have a functional project that is actually helpful for gamers who play Minecraft. I know it would definitely be helpful for us!

What we learned

We learned javascript, how to use Overwolf, and that building mods for Minecraft is a bit more complex than it seems

What's next for SpeedCraft

We will definitely continue to refine SpeedCraft and add features, such as a personal best record. Then we can distribute it, so every beginning speedrunner has an easy way to start speedrunning.
