Inspiration

With the current saturated job market, Spinich makes it more efficient for job hunting.

What it does

Spinich is a service that helps professionals further their careers by helping users send out cold emails to employers through editable templates and by filtering through incoming mail while assessing the sentiment of its contents to maximize user efficiency.

How we built it

The application is a combination of a SPA front-end built using React and Next.js, a REST API made using Python and Flask, and a NoSQL database on MongoDB. It also makes use of various third party APIs such as the OpenAI API and the Google Cloud Gmail API.

Challenges we ran into

By far the biggest challenge of the project was the complex process of connecting our API with the front-end. The data exchange requires a perfect match between the data expected by one party and the data received by the other and many times, small logical errors or flaws in some minor detail of the project can derail the entire logic of the application.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're most proud of our use of generative AI as a way to discern the tone and summarize ideas. We believe that it is a creative and innovative way to integrate this new technology into people's everyday lives.

What we learned

We learned that clear communication as a team is instrumental to our success. Having structured meetings and plans really helps us know what to do and where we're headed.
