Inspiration
We have all experienced a time on campus where we were hungry, but either didn't feel like having to order a full pizza box or having our small order not qualify for minimum price delivery requirements. When your tired of dhall, and studying late at night in your dorm, why not find other students nearby that feel the same way you do?
What it does
It uses your location to provide a feed of students nearby who are looking to order food and split the cost.
How I built it
We used a Node server, as well as Node.js to create the live feed. HTML/CSS/Bootstrap are in use for the front end.
Challenges I ran into
Publishing a live feed was very difficult.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
We are very proud of our concept. This is a solution to a problem many students face on campus, and it has the opportunity to be very successful. We also learnt a lot about backend development, and incorporating it with the front-end.
What I learned
I learnt a lot about Front End, and how to use the command line to push and pull to repositories, as well as host a node server!
What's next for Split.it
We want to extend our features, and deploy this app to college campuses nationwide!
