Inspiration

As university students, we understand that studying can be difficult. Doing your assignments by yourself is boring and sometimes unrewarding. Yet, most of the time, working with your friends just ends up with no work being done. Thus, we wanted to create the perfect companion that would provide optimal study support for students and their needs. Then we came up with Study _Bae_max.

What it does

To start, Study Baemax may be turned on by a fingerprint sensor on his hand. Baemax will monitor you as you study, sensing whether you are still working on your assignments or tasks. If you are not, Baemax will say something mean to you, but if you are and you finish a task, Baemax will give you a little treat!

How we built it

The body of Baemax was intended to work like a vending machine that would dispense treats. We were fortunate enough to have the chance to work with the Qualcomm HDK8450, and we wanted to utilize it as the interface for Baemax.

Challenges we ran into

Understanding how to use the parts of Qualcomm and trying to connect all the peripherals was more difficult than anticipated. Regarding the Qualcomm, much of the difficulty arose from being inexperienced with the

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We were able to connect the Qualcomm to our laptops, which was very difficult. Each small step along the way was extremely satisfying. We're also very proud that we were able to tackle on a project where many of us were inexperienced, especially in working with the hardware.

What we learned

We learned a lot about how to make apps, use Qualcomm, and also the process in making a vending machine mechanism. We also learned that next time, it would be wiser to plan out our project so that we can start the parts that take longer earlier, such as developing the app or physically putting together the project. We also learned a lot about how to connect arduinos to peripherals.

What's next for Study Baemax

We would like to refine our project further including making the app work and also making Baemax look more friendly.
