Inspiration
We are inspired by the existing Informed Delivery feature of USPS. We are seeing a potential of adding the value to this feature to give the customers a better experience, to give the clients of USPS measurable marketing, and to potentially increase the revenue growth of USPS.
What it does
Magiclink is a website portal that USPS clients -- focus on marketers target market -- can attach their website link into their physical envelope that USPS delivers.
How we built it
We use the existing ML API from Google Cloud or Microsoft to initially train a minimum of 30 images of the company's logo on the marketing envelope. We will tag id for the trained pictures of logos, that will be associated with the desired companies' marketing emails. If we see the image again, there is no need to go through the process again, as we already have processed it.
Challenges we ran into
We went on to use FireBase in our project but due to our unfamiliarity with this tool it took alot of time and learning to do before we were able to implement it.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We have added value to the existing Informed delivery services by adding a new potential for marketing.
What we learned
In this process of making a new feature for USPS we have learnt a lot about USPS. About how much community friendly this organization is, also we got to know that cutting edge technologies were already being utilized in USPS. We were also able to find few areas which were still not upgraded and are left old school which can be hacked with some innovative solutions.
What's next for Magic Link
We will try to apply our knowledge from this project to different businesses.
