Inspiration
I was inspired to make this program after seeing people with special needs unable to interact with the complex software on a computer that was not well-suited to their needs. So, I decided to make TheraPlay (TM), a system that helps these people access computers with ease, starting with one of the most entertaining aspects: games.
What it does
TheraPlay is a service that helps to find games that are suited to the user's abilities. There are meant to be 6 sliders, each one of which identifies the unique needs of the user. After completing this form, users get a sorted list of games which are best suited for their use.
How I built it
This was built with HTML, CSS, and JS
Challenges I ran into
I had trouble developing the sorting mechanism in the beginning. Otherwise, development was not too much of a hassle.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
I'm proud that I came up with this idea and combined many useful features into an intuitive application.
What I learned
I learned more about JavaScript, such as going more in depth of arrays
What's next for TheraPlay
I feel like though I have finished the project right now, there is just so much potential for TheraPlay to help change the lives of handicapped people through an intuitive interface. I look to add more selection features beyond sliders to enhance the process of selection process and to make it more user friendly. I also hope to add more qualitative selection criteria to better accommodate the personal preferences of the user besides their physical needs. Finally, I hope to make games that better cater to the client to make it gameplay for my clients as smooth as possible as it is for me.
