Inspiration

According to the UN's sustainable development goals, goal 15 tackles the issues on life on land. Knowing this our team wanted to focus on the trash in public areas which endangers wildlife.

What it does

With an over head camera looking down in a birds eye view, it can identify trash. It would then communicate with a car model to navigate itself to the trash identified and collect the trash.

How I built it

Used C++, SFML for rendering, experimented with Arduino, Raspberry Pi and Elegoo robot car.

Challenges I ran into

Completing the project under 24 hours while learning how to use many elements for the first time.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

Collaborating with a 4 member team under 24 hours in a complex and ambitious project.

What I learned

Integration of software and hardware.

What's next for Trash-E

The birds eye view camera would ideally be used on a drone to identify large areas of land and identify trash. Although this project is used with a car, if the drone could communicate with a boat, trash collection in the ocean could be possible in the future.
