Inspiration
We always thought that car UI seemed to be a little behind in comparison to other technological sectors so thought it would be interesting to create a possible solution to this interesting industry.
What it does
Our app is designed for electronic vehicles. It lets users navigate through an interactive map showing EV charging stations around, and has an outline for using car accessories such as unlocking, popping the trunk, and more.
How we built it
We used Android Studio with Kotlin
Challenges we ran into
No one on our team has any experience in Android App Development so it was a huge learning curve to learn how to use all this new technology, especially on this scale, it's very different than anything we've ever done in school.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Challenging ourselves to use technology completely new to us and getting the app as functional as possible.
What we learned
A lot about API's, UI, Kotlin and Android Studio
What's next for Vechical Nav
We had so many function UI components planned but it took us so long to get used to all the new technologies and set up in new IDE's. We would like to have stats comparing carbon/prices output from province to province since there are different ratios of renewable vs non-renewable sources. We also wished we could have spent more time thinking about the UI design and really considering a driver in motion but we ran out of time.
