✨ Inspiration Choosing between two tools or products can feel overwhelming. Whether it’s picking “Bolt New vs Cursor” for coding or comparing design tools, we found ourselves spending hours on YouTube, forums, and blogs, searching for clear, honest comparisons. We wanted a focused, efficient way to discover, analyze, and decide faster—while also helping creators identify trending comparison topics and structure their content. This inspired us to build Versus: an AI-powered comparison hub that combines curated YouTube videos with clear AI summaries to help users decide smarter.

🎥 What it does Versus helps users compare any two products, tools, or ideas by instantly showing relevant YouTube videos alongside AI-generated summaries ✍️ that highlight key takeaways, pros, and cons. Users can save comparisons, share them with others 🔗, and explore trending topics 🚀. For creators, Versus offers tools to find high-potential comparison topics, perform content gap analysis, and generate structured video outlines instantly, making it easier to create high-value content.

🛠️ How we built it We built Versus using React + Tailwind CSS 🖌️ for a clean, responsive frontend and Supabase 🗄️ for authentication and database management. We integrated the YouTube Data API 📺 to fetch and display comparison videos, and the OpenAI API 🤖 to generate video summaries and insights. Modular, reusable components were implemented for scalability, shareable URLs for SEO and collaboration, and fallback mechanisms for the AI layer to ensure functionality even when API quotas are limited. The creator dashboard was designed with utility and simplicity in mind 💡.
