Inspiration
One day Joyce was on a very long bus ride, and she fell asleep. When she woke up, she found herself at the bus terminal. And so that's how we came up with this idea.
What it does
It notifies (through vibration and notification) the user when they're a certain distance (of their choosing) from their destination. Moreover, it tells the user the name of the route they'll be taking before they start as well as which stop they'll get off at and how many transfers they have left.
How we built it
With tears, Google APIs (more tears), and Android Studio
Challenges we ran into
google api pls
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Actually finishing the app
What we learned
Android stuff (and that there are 4 different types of Google API keys)
What's next for WATnextstop
Creating BuzzStop - a bus seat that can be installed in a bus and that vibrates (or shocks) when you're close to your desired stop. Potential customers include GRT, Homeland Security, and the University of Waterloo.
