Inspiration

Who hasn’t dreamt of flying? We certainly have! Wings is a free, mobile-optimized interactive asset that’s incredibly easy to use - even for beginner creators. And you don’t just get one pair. You get five of them!

What it does

Give your players wings and watch them soar! Fly through the air, hop from platform to platform, or float like a fairy. Choose from ready-to-go styles like steampunk, bat, dragon, butterfly, or fairy—or let players switch styles on the fly (literally) with a tap on their phone.

How we built it

Many TypeScript hours and testing went into creating this asset.

Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenge? Building an asset that’s powerful enough to be genuinely useful, yet so easy that even creators with zero TypeScript experience can drop it in effortlessly. Honestly, it sometimes felt like we were juggling two projects at once: one to make the asset look amazing, and another to make it actually easy to use. We’re pretty proud of how we managed to pull off both—and have fun doing it!

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are especially proud of how easy this asset is to implement even for beginner creators who have no TypeScript experience. Getting started is a breeze. Drop the asset into your world and you’ll find a handy README with everything laid out. No coding skills? No problem. Just click on the Wings Controller object, open the Properties window, and tweak settings like wing power or flap speed. You can even pick a style right there. Want to level it up? If you know a little TypeScript, you can easily turn Wings into a progression system—unlock stronger wings or new styles as players advance in your game.

What we learned

Publishing an asset for the Public Asset Library was a first for us. We are very impressed with that feature and hope to use it more in the future.

We’re looking forward to seeing how this asset will be received by the community. If we see a demand for updates, we’ll certainly provide them. There is a lot more that can be done with this asset: add more styles styles, toggle types of flying modes, add weapons, etc.
