Inspiration
I was inspired by the hackathon theme, "HibernationHacks", where essentially the focus was on sleep and hibernating away at home.
What it does
This app sends notifications to users to remind them when to sleep, and this reminder is based on a personalized estimate from the users' questionnaires during the onboarding phase. In addition, users will be able to see the reports how the amount of sleep they get and a break down of each day, week, month and year.
How I built it
I created the mockups on Adobe Xd, Photoshop, and Illustrator. In addition, my intention was to program the front-end of the app with react-native and the back-end with either Java or Python.
Challenges I ran into
Some challenges that I ran into were not being able to allot the right amount of time needed to complete each phase of the app development process. I kept notes and a task list on my Notion to stay organized and reach objectives. However, I spent too much time on the indecision of joining a team, the design phase, and little to no time on prototyping and coding the project.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
I would say that I am proud that I was able to come up with a concise and helpful idea for an app that can be useful to many. Also, I am glad that I was able to visualize the idea I had for the app so that others can understand the message that I was intending to convey with creating a sleep reminder app.
What I learned
I learned that I should work on my time management skills and should outreach to finding others that would want to collaborate on a project of this scale.
What's next for ZzzSleep
Moving forward, I hope to finish the design phase (mockups->prototype). Then after this, I would like to code the front-end in ReactNative to see what I may have been missing from the visuals and focus on the functionality doing what it needs to do to be successful. Also, I want to create useful functions in the back-end to make the app work and do more research into how to effectively use databases for mobile app development.
