Important Announcement: Regeneration is Closing Soon!

Usually these announcements are for Regeneration regenerating, however this time I’m the one going through changes. It is with a heavy heart I have to announce the news that Regeneration will be closing.

First I want to thank each and every one of you who has visited Regeneration and found it helpful. I really love helping people and seeing how many people were able to build avatars they loved using this site genuinely brought a smile to my face. I’ve chatted with many of you in world about your unique styles and have been fortunately to hear details of how this site made a daunting task manageable. Thank you so, so much for letting me be a part of your Second Life and helping you be who you want to be.

Almost ten years ago I wished I had a resource like Regeneration, so I decided to make one. I started with blogging for a few creators while focusing on avatar building and styles. As time went on I was able to build a step by step avatar creation guide, various in depth posts about great avatar products, and The Mesh Directory so people could directly compare potential bodies, heads, and bits to see what worked best for their needs. All in all Regeneration has helped over 100,000 people represent themselves how they want to in Second Life, and this really makes me so, so happy.

Unfortunately sites like this are not free. Regeneration has been a labor of love from the start, and the expenses build. While some brands were kind enough to give me items to list and blog, the vast majority of products I purchased myself. The monetary costs of running a website also add up quickly. In addition to the out of pocket expenses, there is also the amount of time invested to keep Regeneration running. As you probably noticed, I struggled with keeping it updated over the last couple years. Life happens to all of us, and unfortunately my focus and finances can’t keep up with keeping Regeneration running.

The site will stay up for the rest of February, but I can’t promise that it will be available at all beyond that. Please gather any information you wish to keep before then. Wayback Machine may have some pages already archived, but you’re welcome to request archiving there for pages you wish to see after the site is down. There are a lot of other wonderful Second Life content creators who help teach others, and I highly recommend keeping an eye out for their videos and posts if you need any help. I’ll still be on grid as well, though I’m not always able to respond quickly to messages.

Thank you all again so, so much for your time on Regeneration. I wish you all the best and I truly believe your avatars will continue to flourish in the future.

With love,
Asia
