Elmer FEM

open source multiphysical simulation software

Welcome

Elmer is a finite element software for multiphysical problems published under open source. Elmer includes physical models of fluid dynamics, structural mechanics, electromagnetics, heat transfer and acoustics, and beyond. Elmer supports parallel computing. For many problems good scalability up to thousands of cores has been demonstrated. Elmer is mainly but not exclusively developed by CSC – IT Center for Science. The purpose of this site is to host services for the benefit of the user community.

Additionally there are following other services related to Elmer

Elmer development continues actively mainly via numerous R&D projects that push Elmer forward in application different areas. Currently the most notable areas are computational glaceology and computational electromagnetics. Elmer with its ice-related modules, known as Elmer/Ice, has a large international community and is developed in several ongoing EU projects. In electromagnetics Elmer team is part of The Center of Excellence in High-Speed Electromechanical Energy Conversion Systems (HiECSs). There are also many other niche areas where Elmer offers competitive solutions and is being further developed by Elmer Team or others. Elmer is open for external contributions!
