Equitable Elevation IV 2023 is a hackathon/ideathon centered around social justice and equity as well as philanthropy. It runs from (11/18-12/1). The period (11/10-11/17) is solely dedicated towards searching for teammates, but you can search for teammates throughout the entire competition!

Our event is open to all global citizens that are in high school or older. The theme for this hackathon is “Protecting the Youth”

Winners get a prestigious article that is sure to impress employers! Check out an example here.

This hackathon is open internationally to all high school students, university students, and older and to students of all levels of experience. In fact, our hackathon also serves as an ideation. Having an innovative idea is just as important as the coding itself.

Participating in our Hackathon and building an innovative project that addresses CSA/Social Good shows that you are committed to using technology for social good to colleges/employers/etc...

Note: If requested, legal documentation of donations that we make will be available, as the goal of EQ Hacks is to be as transparent as possible! Furthermore, donations through our link will be given a tax-deductible receipt that can be used by you/your parents when filing taxes.

Judging Criteria

  • Design
Did the team put thought into the user experience? How well designed is the interface? For a website, this might be about how beautiful the CSS or graphics are. Is it easy to use or does it use a cool interface?
  • Technology
How technically impressive was the hack? Did it use a clever technique or did it use many different components? Did the work involved make you go "Wow"? If no code: Is the technological use impressive? Is the ideation’s plan to use tech clear?
  • Novelty
Inspire innovation in the next generation of students. Does it do something entirely novel, or at least take a fresh approach to an old problem? This category will be based solely on the idea behind your project, regardless of functionality.
  • Impactfulness
We look for hacks that have a large social impact. Is the hack impactful? Does it fulfill a real need people have? This category will be based on the idea behind your project and its planned functionality (not necessarily fully working).
  • Implementability/Practicality
We look for new and original ideas. We want hackers to think outside the box, but we value practicality. Is this project implementable and practical in the next 3-5 years? This category will be based on both the idea & functionality behind your project.
