ABOUT GENESIS

Genesis I is centered around creating a new solution around anything. The competition will run from (3/20 - 4/25). Any project submitted before or after this timeframe is disqualified. The period before this is dedicated towards searching for teammates, but teammates can be formed throughout the competition.

In our philosophy, art and stem are one—designers and programmers are equally welcome.

Winners receive a prestigious article for employers and applications. Check out an example here.

Judging Criteria

  • Design
Did the team put thought into the user experience? How well designed is the interface? For a website, this might be about how impactful the CSS or graphics are. Is the design readable or is it compact and hard to understand?
  • Technology
How technically impressive was the hack? Did it use a clever technique or did it use many different components? Did the work involved make you go "wow"? If no code: Is the technological use impressive?
  • Novelty
Inspire innovation in the next generation of students. Does it do something entirely novel, or at least take a fresh approach to an old problem? This category will be based solely on the idea behind your project, regardless of functionality.
  • Impactfulness
We look for projects with large social impact. Does it fulfill something, socially or technologically? This category will be based on the idea behind your project and its planned functionality (not necessarily fully working).
  • Implementability/Practicality
We look for new and original ideas. We want hackers to think outside the box, but we value practicality. Is this project implementable and practical in the next 3-5 years?
