Hack The Burgh is a yearly hackathon hosted by University of Edinburgh students. It is open to any student currently enrolled in full-time further education or those who have graduated less than a year ago. It is a great place to learn or practice programming, with a variety of challenges and talks from our sponsers.

  • Innovation / Creativity
    The solution should demonstrate a unique approach to addressing the problem or opportunity identified, and should offer a novel solution that has not been previously developed or implemented.
  • Impact
    The solution should have a positive impact on a large scale, and should be clearly articulated and supported by evidence or research. It can be measured in terms of the number of people or communities affected, and degree of improvement achieved.
  • Feasibility
    The solution should be realistic and feasible, taking into account the available resources and time constraints. The solution should have a clear path to implementation, and should be scalable and sustainable over the long-term.
  • Presentation / Quality of Solution
    The team should present their solution clearly and effectively to the judges, demonstrating their understanding of the problem and their solution. The code should be clean, efficient and scalable, and the presentations should be clear and concise.
