About

HackUNT is the University of North Texas' annual hackathon. A hackathon is a 24-hour development competition for coders, designers, and anyone with a good idea! Don't worry if you aren't experienced either, HackUNT is a great place to learn! We will have mentors and professionals from the industry to help along the way.

Hackunt'S Challenge Statement

Your mission is to create an innovative tech solution that adds a spooky twist to everyday problems and experiences. Embrace the eerie atmosphere of Halloween by integrating elements of fright, mystery, and fun into your project. Whether it’s a haunted home automation system, a chilling fitness tracker, or an unsettling chatbot, this is your chance to think outside the coffin! Challenge Objectives:

1. Spooky Integration: Design a tech solution that transforms a mundane daily task into a spine-tingling experience. Think about how you can use technology to introduce elements of horror or surprise.

2. Engaging Interaction: Your solution should engage users with cryptic messaging, eerie sounds, or unexpected reactions. The goal is to create an immersive experience that keeps users on their toes.

3. Creativity & Innovation: Encourage out-of-the-box thinking. Your project could be a smart costume that changes based on the environment, a haunted fitness tracker that tells ghostly tales during workouts, or a game that utilizes real-time data to build suspense and mystery.

What TO SUBMIT and When to Submit

Submit your Github repository, along with:

  • A screenshot or video demonstration of your program
  • A brief explanation of what your program does

  • Next steps for your program (e.g., functionality you might not have been able to implement)

Your team needs to be registered by 11:30pm on Saturday (11/4). Don’t worry, you do not have to have your whole project done by this time. This is just to make sure your team is registered on Devpost. You will have until 12:00pm on Sunday to fully submit your project.

Your project needs to be finalized by noon on Sunday! No edits should be made to your project after that time.

One emerging challenge in the commercial real estate industry is the growing demand for datadriven, smart, and adaptive workspaces. Modern tenants and corporations are increasingly
focused on cost efficiency, enhanced user experience, and optimized space utilization.
“Smart” workspaces that adapt to the needs of users and optimize operational efficiency are
becoming essential in the industry. The condition of a workspace, including space utilization,
tenant satisfaction, and operational efficiency, impacts both market attractiveness and
profitability.
The challenge this year is to develop an AI/ML solution that enhances workspaces and
buildings, making them more efficient, adaptable, and user-friendly, while addressing realworld problems that tenants and building managers face.
