The importance of the "journal" metadata in HAL
The “journal” metadata in HAL is essential for accurately identifying the journal in which a publication has appeared
Given the large number of journals, often with similar names, a rigorous choice helps avoid any confusion and ensures optimal indexing of publications, both in HAL and in search engines.
Correctly identifying the journal enhances the visibility and discoverability of publications. When submitting a record, it is imperative to select a validated journal (displayed in green)
If the journal does not exist in the reference database, no unvalidated entry should be created; instead, the Helpdesk should be contacted to ensure reliable and unique identification.
Inria researchers: update your HAL affiliations
In HAL, when you are added by a depositor as a co-author of a publication, your profile (first name and last name) is recognized through your HAL profile. If you have correctly filled in one or more default affiliations in your HAL profile, these will then be automatically suggested to the depositor of a publication, making it easier to complete author metadata… provided that these affiliations are up to date!/p>
For this reason, we recommend that you update your affiliations in your HAL profile so that they reflect your current situation and that outdated ones are no longer suggested by mistake to the depositing co-author. Please enter your current Inria project team and remove any mention of an Inria center or any obsolete information.
To do so, please consult the tutorial: « Mettre à jour vos préférences d’affiliation »
Please note: the IES service will be operating with reduced staff during the holiday period, which may slow down the validation of deposits in HAL. We wish you a happy end-of-year holiday season!
