About the challenge

InsightMed Hacks is a hackathon focused on revolutionizing healthcare through innovation and technology. From October 24th to November 21st we welcome you to create anything that you believe will tackle an issue in healthcare. Winners will receive awards ranging from the best innovation award to recognition as a most impactful project. Participating in this hackathon is a great opportunity to showcase your innovation skills whether its through coding or presenting a stellar idea!

 

Requirements

What to Build

Participants are encouraged to create any project that addresses a pressing issue in healthcare. Your project can take the form of a website, software, machine learning model, or even a hardware-based solution.Here are some examples to inspire you:

  • AI Disease Prediction Software: Develop an AI-driven system that helps predict diseases based on patient data or other factors, aiding early diagnosis and treatment.

  • Patient Monitoring App: Create an app to monitor patient vitals, medication adherence, or overall health metrics to improve patient care and hospital workflows.

  • Lifestyle Tracker App: Build a tool to help users track their diet, exercise, sleep, or mental health to promote healthy habits and prevent lifestyle-related diseases.

Requirements for Submission

  1. GitHub Repository: Each team or individual must provide a GitHub link containing all the source code, documentation, and relevant materials. Ensure the code is well-documented to assist judges in understanding your implementation. Include a README file with a clear description of your projects. 

  2. Submission Video: Create a 3-5 minute demo video, including a walkthrough of your project and any key features you want to highlight. Ensure your project tackles a specific healthcare issue (e.g. women's health or mental health in teenagers).

  3. Online Project Link (Optional): If your project is deployed online, share a link to the live version. Use platforms like Vercel, Heroku, GitHub Pages, or other hosting services so judges can interact with your project

Judging Criteria

  • Technical Execution
    How well-implemented is the solution technically? Does the project use technology efficiently? Is there an impressive use of or planned use of technology?
  • Innovation
    Does the project introduce a new or creative approach to solving a healthcare problem? Is it unique compared to existing solutions?
  • Design
    Is there careful consideration of the user experience and design? How user-friendly is the prototype or project? Is it clear that the project is intentional about creating a user-friendly design?
  • Impact
    Is the project targeting a specific issue in a tangible way? Is it both realistic and genuine in its approach to creating a better space in healthcare?
