Autumn  over the Ruahines

This is my entry for the fabric challenge at Tote and Gloat 2019

I was unable to attend this year as I broke my leg on the Tuesday before.

This is the fabric we were given and it wasn't working for me until I saw the Autumn colours in it.

I cut up the fabric into tiny pieces and used it for the autumn leaves in the tree.

This is my view from my sewing room with a few artistic additions.

It won a merit award.

The judges comments; So many wonderful in this quilt

It's so clever that you saw the autumn colours in the fabric

and used it to create the tree.

Love the bunny.

Working through the UFO's

The Sewing Room is working well and I have managed to finish some of the many UFO's in my stash.

Autumn Swirls

A mystery quilt designed by Wendy Oswin for Dream Girls 2012.  It was a medallion quilt with more rounds but I stopped here as running out of fabric which I was using from my stash.

Quilted and completed 24 May 2018,

Rhapsody or The Band

A jellyroll race that I made in August 2012.  I added the band silhouette to make it personal for my brother, Dennis as he plays in a band.  Completed 30 June 2018 and 

sent to him in Gravesend 25 July 2018.

Hollyhock Cottage

A Halberg family Challenge set by Lynette who sent us some stitchery patterns of "The Village Square set No. 2".   This was due September 2012.  I did the stitchery and put a border on it. Finally completed 9 July 2018

Queen of the Daffodils

Card Capers challenge for the Feilding Kowhai Quilters Club (FKQC).

I got the Queen of Diamonds and the flower the Queen was holding reminded me of a daffodil.  I then decided to use the photo of my cat Bootsie amongst the daffodils.  This is 12 x 12 and won the challenge at the Club meeting in July.

William Morris Mariners Compass

I attended a class with Juliet Fitness at Quilters Dream, 13 April 2013.  Made using William Morris fabric and finally completed 27 July 2018.

My Morris Garden

In July 2008, I started this quilt with a set of Morris Garden by Barbara Brackman charm squares.  I loved it and wanted to make a bed size quilt so tracked down more charm squares and fabric and made to single bed size.  Finally quilted and completed 5 Aug 2018.  This one has 2x cat approval.

Poppy's Pot Luck Quilt

A class with Natalie Murdoch called Pot Luck held through WQC in April 2012.

It was made using fabric strips and sewn together on paper to make the blocks.  I got bored making these blocks so made a small quilt for my dog Poppy.  Completed 6 Aug 2018.

My dedicated Sewing Room

It has been a long time since I posted on here and haven't done much patchwork or quilting in that time.  We have moved and I now have a dedicated Sewing Room.  

 There was some paint coming off on one wall so pulled at it and more came off.  I wanted to change the colour of the room anyway to a more creative colour.

 A couple of splashes of colour to choose.

  Walls completed and treadle machines in place.

 Sewing table .  Curtains needed to be joined before putting back up.  Not my choice but go with the room.

 Chaos as books unpacked.

Some order again.  Now to sort the rest of the room.

My Boy Rocky wins

I entered "My Boy Rocky" in the Festival of Quilts show this year and was thrilled to receive a highly commended prize.

So exciting as have never entered a judged show before.

On the 11th and 12th July I attended a WQC workshop with Melissa Burdon

Prior to the workshop we sent a photo to Melissa.

Christmas and stuff

There was a craft market at work on the 5th Dec and I decided to 

try my hand at selling some things.
I didn't have a lot made so got to work and made the following;

I sold one tablemat, the 2 Christmas stockings, 1 Christmas tree decoration, 

the little box and a wallhanging.  Not too bad.
It gave me some Christmas spending money.

 My "Through the Trees Wallhanging" sold to a good friend

and is now hanging on the wall in her office so I can see it still.

I made 3 boxes for my quilting mates and

 gave to them  full of goodies for Christmas.

 

Eastern Promise

I did a workshop back in June at WQC with Anna Williams.

Here is my quilt finally finished.

It has turned out very well.  A great class.
