Got to attend one of the workshops that introduces the different elements of "Tang" in Guangzhou - from sweets, soup and places for respite. During the workshop, Sylvia showed extra care and understanding not just to her clients but also to the local vendors, staff, and others she was working with, ensuring their crafts and services are presented to the utmost authenticity and conveyed with context on their culture, personal stories and what they would want to contribute to building this experience and impression of Guangzhou. If you are in for an immersive journey through workshops and events, or to indulge in a meaningful overseas experience, Sylvia and Bespoke Summer is no doubt an excellent choice to engage with, and you will not be disappointed.
I had the pleasure to be invited to a showcase by the founder, Sylvia. She curated an experiential show and tell introduction of Bespoke Summer and it was a lovely evening as we journeyed to Guangzhou through her lens. We had a taste of authentic Guangzhou flavours, from soups to desserts as Sylvia took time to explain the origins of these staples. With such an immersive experience even for the showcase, I could have a preview of how the bespoke tours will be, where she had carefully crafted the programmes to journey around China, experiencing the culture like a local. Can't wait to travel with Bespoke Summer!
Sylvia went did a commendable showcase of how she plans not just a basic tour of several major cities in China, but also created an experiential session that evoked all of our senses. Much thought has gone into crafting a very personalised and close-to-home journey which I am sure will be well-embarked upon by the would-be participants of her tour. As a native herself who is eloquent in mandarin, english and cantonese, coupled with her easy-to-approach demeanour, I am confident that language barrier or communication will not be a major issue too!
