Melissa F. Clarke (MF Clarke) is a Brooklyn based interdisciplinary artist whose work often employs generative and procedural processes. In much of her work she combines data and research into multimedia immersive installations, performances, virtual reality pieces and printed works. For her installation work, past processes have included computer vision and generative algorithms to composite and extract these data sets over time revealing otherworldly scenes depicting both deep time and speculative futures. In her sound work, Clarke composes and performs experimental electronic sounds merging data sonification, field recordings and resonant looping of guitar, contact mics with glass, vocal input and distorted rhythms. Clarke also uses analog and digital feedback and mixing techniques to create unique sounds or alter sound samples.
