Pepe, the “chilled frog”, was once hijacked and turned into a hate symbol. Matt Furie fought hard to prevent this from happening, eventually leading to Pepe being reborn into a symbol of peace, love and hope.

But what does Andy — Pepe’s best friend and roommate who shares similar qualities to Pepe — represent?

In crypto terms, Andy was never really a meme. We’ve had to mould him into one, and have tried to do so respectfully.

Andy on Base’s version remains a chilled, fun-lovin’ dude at heart, one that never seeks to do harm and who thrives when surrounded by the spirit of friendship and brotherhood.

But in his maturity we’ve evolved him into a modern freedom fighting rebel that stands against oppression, someone that won’t be hijacked or abused as bro Pepe once was, someone that can break through barriers to overcome any obstacle with ease, someone that firmly believes in carving the right path whilst having a great time along the way.

As a crypto meme today, Andy is the ultimate courageous defender and explorer, and he’s bulletproof.

The KrAken is a bespoke tool that enables the bulk sending of Promo TX’s to numerous wallets whose owners may be interested in Andy on Base.

How It Works

1. We first command The KrAken to identify holders of specific tokens, with each holder satisfying certain criteria (AKA the target recipients). For example, we can instruct the system to comprise a list of addresses that hold at least $500 worth of $MIGGLES (Base), $BRETT (Base) or $TOSHI (Base) but little or zero $ANDY.
2. Next, the system begins to bulk send a special transaction (TX) to each of those addresses, one block after the other. Our send (from) wallet has an eye-catching ENS name assigned to it, that being: 🟡andy.base.eth
3. Once the KrAken has finished sending those TX’s, its job is complete and so returns to the depths, laying in wait for instructions to launch Andy on Base’s next on-chain promotional campaign.

The Message Within

Some will notice that KrAken transactions are marked with an asterisk (*), indicating that a message is present within the Input Data field of that TX.

Soon, as well as their $MIGGLES swap there’s a fair chance they’ll encounter our visually noticeable transaction — sent from 🟡andy.base.eth — in their transaction list.

And for those owners aware the 🟡andy.base.eth TX also contains a message, they may click the transaction link to view the promotional content (tailored to each campaign) contained within.

So as well as exposure through KOL’s and social media platforms, Andy on Base can now promote on-chain to specific memecoin traders and investors.

Introduction

Millions of memecoins are launched per year yet very few achieve let alone come close to a 1 billion dollar market cap (the holy grail).

At the time of writing, according to Coin Gecko only seven memecoins across all available chains are currently sitting above a 1 billion MC, including:

Generally speaking, when a project declares it’s heading to 1 billion it should be treated as hyperbole and taken with a pinch of salt.

But every once in a while a project is able to provide valid comparisons and reasoning as to why a 1 billion MC and beyond is actually achievable. Andy on Base is one such project.

The Boy’s Club is a comic book created by artist, Matt Furie, featuring four main characters. Pepe, Andy, Brett and Landwolf. All four are best friends and roommates. Essentially, they’re equals, and where one goes the others follow.

Some may have noticed that 2 out of 7 projects listed by Coin Gecko above are Boy’s Club characters, namely Pepe on Ethereum and Brett on Base.

Pepe passed 1 billion first then came Brett. Of the two, Brett provides the more relevant comparison because:

1. Like Andy, Brett is a less recognised meme than Pepe (the global star of the show outside and within crypto).
2. Brett is on Base with Base becoming the place for memecoin seeking normies.

In other words, once Brett passed a 1 billion MC it fully cleared the road for Andy on Base to proceed ahead without resistance.

The network’s exponential growth can be attributed to various factors, including the notable surge in memecoin activities and the advent of innovative products.

Coinbase is actively and strategically pushing Base, meaning that established Base projects benefit from Coinbase’s financial might, its marketing campaigns, its connections, its influence, its rapidly expanding community of builders, and the resulting flood of new users arriving onchain that are now able to create and fund wallets then swap with relative ease.

As millions on-ramp via Coinbase and Coinbase Wallet, they’re exposed to Base chain and the top tokens upon it. What type of tokens do normies love most of all? Memes, glorious memes.

It’s a multi-tasking, high pressure, seven days per week bonanza, one that must be executed at breakneck speed (crypto takes no prisoners). And in the case of Andy on Base, all of this must be achieved whilst upholding high quality standards, maintaining full transparency, ensuring safety, and remaining one step ahead to preserve relevance and appeal.

Andy on Base is determined, committed, well connected and supported, but is not one to rest upon its laurels.

We may have been live for over 2.5 months but from our perspective that period has been the preparatory stage, the warm-up. Now that all ducks are in a row we feel confident in fully opening the throttle to race towards a 1 billion MC and beyond.

Although Andy on Base wouldn’t consider itself to be in direct competition with other tokens, it is important that we stand out from the crowd, especially because we consider ourselves to be a professional project that maintains a long-term view, one that intends to become a blue chip token on Base and beyond.

Spot the difference

According to Boy’s Club lore, Pepe, Andy, Brett and Landwolf are best friends and roommates. Essentially, they’re equals, so where one goes the others may follow. Pepe is clearly the star of the show due to being a globally recognised meme outside and within crypto, whereas Andy, Brett and Landwolf are becoming recognised memes (the world is nothing without variety).

Recently, Brett on Base hit the headlines by becoming the first Boy’s Club character besides Pepe to breach a 1 billion dollar market cap, proving without a shadow of a doubt that other Boy’s Club characters are perfectly capable of achieving great feats.

So if Pepe is the star and one of his three based friends has already succeeded, what’s to stop Andy on Base from achieving the same success? Nothing, providing we all work hard, stay the course…and think outside the box 👀

Where there’s Andy on Base, there’s a way

To place Andy firmly on the map we needed to do something special. Something entertaining, compelling, awesome, memorable. Something that appeals in and outside of crypto. An event that naturally goes viral, doesn’t take too long to consume, sets records, and would be remembered and cherished forevermore. Granted, not an easy set of objectives.

Yes, we could have headed down the common route of advertising on digital billboards in Times Square and New York taxi tops (maybe we’ll explore such filler in the future). We could have projected Andy’s image onto Burj Khalifa (the world’s tallest skyscraper) in Dubai. Or we could have hired a recognised figure to video themselves reading from a script to sing Andy’s praises. But that wouldn’t have satisfied the criteria above, it wouldn’t have been awesome. It would have been predictable and unremarkable when compared to Andy on Base’s Big Event that’s now complete and due for release soon.

Post release marketing aside, planning and execution of the event involved upwards of 25 people working from various countries around the globe, all over a 10 week period.

The event is deliberately shrouded in secrecy so all those involved vowed to maintain their silence. It would have been easier to smuggle classified documents from the Kremlin, but we managed to keep the box sealed. Only a few that we suspected may leak critical information had to be eliminated. Dude, we’re kidding 😉

What does The Big Event achieve?

• It sets multiple records involving Andy, Pepe, the Boy’s Club, Base, and to a degree, Coinbase.
• It strongly aligns Pepe with Andy.
• It makes Andy on Base shine above others.
• It strongly aligns Andy with Base.
• It brings additional exposure to Matt Furie’s creations in a unique way.
• It carries the torch that celebrates Pepe becoming a symbol of peace, love and hope after Pepe was temporarily hijacked and twisted into a hate symbol. If you know the history of Pepe (highly recommend watching the Feels Good Man documentary), then you’ll be aware that Matt had to fight the powers that be to preserve the integrity of his creation. Not only did Matt fight, but he won. Respect dude 🤝
