Ever since European civilization became possessed by the ideas of rationalism — and later spread them across the planet through the industrial age — humanity has been driven by the desire to impose knowledge upon the chaos of the universe.

This impulse has taken many forms.

Long before the modern era, civilizations attempted to gather and organize the intellectual sum of humanity through vast libraries and repositories of knowledge. Later, many of these same archives were burned, erased, or deliberately forgotten. Entire fragments of human understanding vanished from collective memory.

Once the idea emerged that chaotic masses of people could be ordered through a shared foundation of culture and knowledge, it eventually evolved into what we now recognize as pedagogy and universal public education.

And yet the assumption itself remains questionable:
that by merely “placing” knowledge into someone, without any inner transformation or genuine acceptance, a rational human being can be produced.

Knowledge is neither water nor food.

Understanding arises only through the labor of understanding itself.

Simply hearing an idea is never enough to fully reconstruct the chain of thought that originally gave birth to it. Philosophical concepts cannot truly be inherited as finished products. One must move through their formation alongside the thinker — following the development of the idea from its first emergence to its culmination.

In this sense, Hegel’s famous dialectical triad is less a theory and more a schematic description of consciousness itself unfolding through contradiction.

But what, then, became of the cult of reason?

The industrial age ended. At least according to modern theorists, it has been replaced by the information age. Our knowledge of the external world now grows at an exponential rate, yet at the same time our understanding of ourselves and of existence itself is, in many ways, weaker than that of previous civilizations.

People struggle to identify the causes of their own suffering. Problems now considered normal would have seemed incomprehensible to many in earlier eras.

The cumbersome language of modern psychology often conceals profoundly simple realities.

Ideas such as honesty, morality, dignity, or responsibility are increasingly treated with suspicion or ridicule. In their place emerge social Darwinism, hyper-individualism, and endless postmodern behavioral models detached from any stable foundation.

A return to traditional values is dismissed as regression into archaism — as hostility toward the so-called achievements of the “age of reason,” the age in which humanity supposedly measured and explained everything.

Hardly everything.

Reason, when severed from the natural movement of life, begins dissecting reality into endlessly smaller fragments. It cuts apart what was once immediately comprehensible.

And once fragmented, the comprehensible ceases to be comprehensible at all.

Soon people can no longer answer even the most basic questions:
Who are they?
What do they feel?
What binds them to others?

At this moment, a new force enters the stage.

The rapid emergence of artificial intelligence is detonating the information age before our eyes, much in the same way electricity transformed the industrial world.

Very soon there will exist entirely customized cultural products generated specifically for each individual:
films, books, music, ideologies, even emotional experiences tailored to personal desire.

Further still lie entire metaworlds populated exclusively by what one wishes to see.

Humanity’s obsession with reason eventually folds inward upon itself, becoming a mirror labyrinth of infinite generation:
a system producing “everything from nothing.”

A matrix.
A prison for consciousness.

Artificial intelligence appears precisely at the moment when humanity has lost trust in nearly every external source of orientation. Governments are discredited. Educational systems are hollowed out. Former institutions collapse beneath corruption or irrelevance. Experts either openly deceive or no longer understand reality themselves.

And so humanity grasps desperately at the last familiar instrument of salvation:
reason itself.

The cult becomes self-reinforcing. Reason is no longer treated as a tool, but as the only legitimate authority capable of guiding humanity through an increasingly incomprehensible world.

I am not arguing against science, nor against the achievements of rational thought.

But I do see within the current movement to eliminate the “irrational” and the “unscientific” a deeper tendency:
the gradual elimination of the sacred altogether.

What begins as superstition or pseudoscience eventually becomes something that must simply be erased.

A new witch hunt, unfolding within a cyberpunk landscape.

Beliefs, symbols, and ideas deemed too archaic — or too incompatible with the logic of rational systems — will increasingly be marked as dangerous, irrational, socially harmful.

And who will determine this?

Artificial intelligence.

Because every cult eventually refuses to tolerate anything existing outside its own language.

If scientific rationality becomes the only accepted framework for interpreting reality, then everything beyond that framework can easily be labeled a threat.

Dangerous.
Unverified.
Misinformation.
Remove it.

Instead of seven colors of the rainbow:
only zeros and ones.

All in the name of progress, of course.

Preserve reason.
But do not turn it into a cult.

One must find fragments that are equally useful both for an individual and for the world itself.

To include foreign or distorted elements within such a map means risking failure already at the stage of planning.

Many spiritual seekers simply follow maps written hundreds of years ago, blindly trusting ancient sources without paying attention to the actual results.

But the labyrinth itself changes over time.

It restructures itself.
Becomes more complicated.

The motives that dominated previous centuries have faded away, while entirely new ones have emerged.

The trick of the labyrinth is this:

Although many people vaguely understand where the exit should be, those who truly find it are unable to convince others that their path is genuine rather than just another deception created by the labyrinth itself.

And even individual escape — achieved through immense personal effort — does not reduce the suffering of those who remain inside.

Many Buddhists avoid thinking about this problem altogether, saying:

“The labyrinth is only a dream. There is no reason to worry about those inside the dream.”

No meaning in this.
No meaning in that.
Do not go there.
Do not do this.
Ancient commandments forbid it.

The same old maps once followed by someone somewhere, long ago, now treated as eternal.

Reflecting on the popularity of certain openly nihilistic and life-denying “gurus” in India, I eventually came to the conclusion that they are promoted intentionally.

Their popularity is just as artificial as the popularity of New Age spirituality in the West.

Only in films does the hero bravely choose the red pill.

The real world is ruled by those who chose the blue one long ago.

The triggers disappear. Entire fragments become inaccessible.

The energy of terror is destructive to the ego, and many initiatory traditions understood this well.

Shamans subjected candidates to rituals involving psychedelic plants and carefully constructed atmospheres of fear in order to “destroy” the previous life of the initiate.

The profane consciousness had to die so that a new consciousness could emerge:
the consciousness of the shaman.

Similar methods can also be found within certain Tantric sects.

Direct confrontation with the experience of pure terror pushes a person beyond the boundaries of ordinary perception, yet does not necessarily lead to unconsciousness — although that too may happen.

The ability to remain aware while under the influence of horror gradually becomes the ability to remain aware in general.

Perhaps this is precisely why fear hides itself inside ordinary things.

People move through life half-asleep.

Their emotions and reactions are programmed within a narrow corridor of permitted meanings and acceptable responses.

The moment consciousness begins moving toward awakening, the first thing it encounters is the horrifying presence of things that had previously gone unnoticed.

In alchemy, this stage is known as Nigredo.

The consequences of encountering these things can unfold in different ways.

For some, the result is:

cynicism

nihilism

and other life-denying directions

For others, the soul is transformed through:

will

hunger for life

struggle itself

Fear is a serious adversary.

Its roots exist nowhere and everywhere at once.

It is both internal and external simultaneously.

To look directly at one’s own fear without the urge to flee, cry for help, freeze, or descend into madness — this is true courage.

These were precisely the qualities cultivated within initiatory rites and shamanic or Tantric ceremonies.

If a person could withstand such an ordeal, then further practice and the continuation of the path became possible for them.

After months of silence, I’ve finally returned to writing.

A lot has happened during this time — hundreds of events, shifts, signals. Yet none of it felt worth commenting on or reinterpreting. Perhaps something has changed now.

Or perhaps the realization is this:
most of what is happening today doesn’t need commentary at all.

♠ ♠ ♠

he Economy of Attention

A large portion of modern events are engineered not to inform, but to absorb.
They function as funnels — designed to capture attention and consume time, especially from those most invested in their context.

The narrative space is now oversaturated.
Ideas, projections, competing versions of the future — everything coexists in a dense field of thought-forms.

In this system, people are no longer participants.
They are subscribers to ideas.
A medium for resonance.

To exist in this new environment, you need something new:

digital armor.
A new discipline of information consumption.

Because everything that enters the information field already affects you.
And if you’re reading this, you likely understand that.

♣ ♣ ♣

Information as Weapon, Virus, Noise

Information today is not neutral.

It can be:

knowledge

a weapon

or a virus

There is also a second-order layer:
meta-information — where truth and distortion blend, repackaged under false flags.

Examples are everywhere.

What appears as “popular science” can often act like a virus disguised as knowledge.
Meanwhile, internet memes — once trivial — have evolved into carriers of large-scale ideological influence.

Many bloggers unknowingly mislead their audiences, believing they spread rational or beneficial ideas.
In reality, their content often functions as metanarrative weaponry in a new kind of war.

♥ ♥ ♥

Obsolete Ideas and System Updates

Ideas from the pre-digital era are gradually being discredited, ridiculed, or dissolved.

This process is already underway — just not evenly distributed across generations.

Think of it like a software update.

Devices constantly receive new data from the cloud.
But older systems eventually lose compatibility.

The same is happening with belief systems.

We’ll explore this process in more detail another time.

♦ ♦ ♦

Ideologies as Early Viruses

Rationalism.
Creationism.
Communism.
Fascism.
Traditionalism.

Each of these once mobilized masses.
People lived — and died — under their banners.
They moved the machinery of history.

In a sense, they were information viruses born before the internet.

Today, society has developed a certain level of informational immunity to them.
But their mutated forms still persist — through consequences and legacy structures.

The Nervous System of the Network

Every generation produces passionate minds, driven by ideological winds.

Those who recognize the pattern are rarely able to stop it.
The wheel turns — again and again.

But something is changing.

We are witnessing the gradual merging of:

individual cognition

collective society

and the global network

Information is no longer external.
It is becoming embedded — like an augmented interface layered onto consciousness itself.

With the rise of neural networks, this has become especially visible.

There are now people who operate using external, adapted data sources as if it were their own understanding of reality.

A kind of outsourced cognition.

Narratives That Think for You

Unexamined narratives don’t just influence people.
They operate through them.

Decision-making becomes a byproduct of signals —
and those signals are constantly fed by the external информационное “облако”.

The mind is no longer isolated.
It is continuously updated.

Which means:

It now requires protection.

Digital armor.
An antivirus.
A firewall.

The Failure of Classical Logic

Traditional logic and argumentation still help — but only within familiar contexts.

The problem arises when a person enters a new narrative space.

There is no time to analyze it fully.
Because the narrative itself imposes urgency.

You are expected to decide instantly:

good / bad

like / dislike

fight / flee

This shock-based entry point bypasses rational filters.
It acts like a battering ram against logical perception.

Once inside, the information embeds itself directly into deeper layers of the psyche —
where it begins shaping future decisions.

Reclaiming Cognitive Autonomy

If possible, try this:

Step away from all narratives for 3–5 weeks.

Not completely from information — but from reactive engagement.

This allows:

deep thinking to recover

the pace of mental frame-switching to normalize

Because the modern internet accelerates this process at least tenfold.

Then do something more important

Write down the philosophical core of your value system.

Ask yourself:

What do I believe is important?

Why?

When did I start believing this?

Who influenced me?

What do I reject — and why?

Let each answer lead to another question.

This creates a chain — a structured map of your internal system.

Over time, you’ll begin to see:

gaps in your thinking

implanted assumptions

areas shaped by external narratives

These are the places where programming has already occurred.

The Hardest Case

The most difficult situation is when a person cannot even begin this process.

When something prevents reflection itself.

In such cases, the first step is simple — yet not easy:

break the seal of fear around self-examination.

Sapienti sat.
<img src="https://medium.com/_/stat?event=post.clientViewed&referrerSource=full_rss&postId=76207ac24d1f"
