In the second part of their strategic vision series, Block.one introduced several initiatives and tools they are developing or already offering in order to nurture a vivid EOSIO developer community.

Those are:

• Debugging Smart Contracts

Tools that let developers add breakpoints to their smart contract code so that functions can be reviewed in a step-through process during state exploration and auditing.

• The EOSIO Testnet

A testing infrastructure that is integrated with Block.one’s developer documentation

• Scalable Documentation Platform

A developer portal to provide a more seamless experience in sync with the scale of the EOSIO software codebase and additional multi language support to integrate developers from the non-english speaking community.

• High Resolution State Tracking

Offering developers greater flexibility with the implementation of data aggregator tools

• Enhanced Smart Contract Functionality

Improving interactions between smart contracts by enabling smart contracts to use a read-only layer to which other smart contracts can refer so each can update their data structures without any errors.

LiquidLink — DAPP Network is ready to scale ETH

When Beni Hakak, CEO of LiquidApps, asked Twitter on July 18th which blockchain should be connected to EOS through the DAPP Network, it was obvious that the team was cooking something up!

Who could have guessed that LiquidApps would deliver a working solution so soon? Well, if you have followed the team in the last few months you would have seen how fast they are pushing innovation on EOSIO forward and you could have maybe anticipated a timely delivery of this project.

However, when LiquidLink was not only announced but also showcased in a video on Twitter, it had an immediate impact even beyond the EOSIO community.

LiquidLink is the first decentralized solution for inter-blockchain communication and will be a part of the ZeusSDK allowing developers to easily implement this feature.

While LiquidLink will first act as a bridge between the EOS and the Ethereum blockchain, the name suggests that this solution has the potential to connect the EOS public network to a multitude of blockchains further down the road.

As Beni suggested in a recent article, blockchain interoperability could help bring different communities together. We hope to see less crypto tribalism as different networks benefit from each other’s best features.

LiquidLink is built on exactly that spirit, as it effectively means that dApps built on ETH can utilize the instant and fee less transactions of EOS, but still keep their smart contract on the ETH base layer.

Currently LiquidLink is still labeled as a work-in-progress service and interested developers are encouraged to check documentation on their website or on Github and give feedback or ask further questions in their Telegram channel.

BOSCore

A year after the launch of the EOS public network there have also been a couple of networks launched successfully by utilizing the EOSIO open source software. The BOS network keeps making news with their updates as they upgrade not only to their own network but potentially all EOSIO networks.

Since its inception in December 2018, BOSCore has already brought a couple of impressive innovations to the EOSIO Ecosystem namely their inter-blockchain communication solution and the successful Worker Proposal System.

The 3 sec LIB (Last Irreversible Block) and the underlying Batch PBFT Consensus model is yet another big improvement as it drastically decreases time to finality, a feature that is much needed for many business use-cases, such as e-payment systems.

After being successfully deployed on a testnet, BOSCore nodes are upgrading to BOSCore Version 3.0.1 and a consensus fork activation is expected to occur around Tuesday 6 Aug at precisely block height 34,721,558.

Prior to activation, the BOSCore community will get on a call at 13:00 (UTC) 6 Aug 2019 and as always, support can be requested anytime in the BOSCore mainnet Telegram channel.

After the new consensus model is implemented, the speed of transaction verification on BOS is going to be 50 times faster than on the EOS public network and 1200 times faster compared to Bitcoin. It’s also possible that one day we will see this feature implemented on the EOS public network.

Everything EOS Proxy

On July 26th, Zack and Rob from Everything EOS announced the launch of the EverythingEOS Proxy on the EOS public network and it was fun to see the first votes coming in live during the show. The first 20 slots of their proxy were already chosen by aggregating data of 9 other popular proxies and we’re very happy and grateful that EOS Nation was part of the first 20 BPs added to the proxy. Thank you Everything EOS, we appreciate your support! 🙏

In the coming weeks the additional 10 slots will be filled and as the team plans to get more involved in the discussions around governance, we can expect to witness a transparent decision making process documented in their popular show on YouTube.

PredIQt

PredIQt is a decentralized prediction market brought to us by the Everipedia team and the 2nd product to utilize the IQ token.

The team released their MVP just a few days ago on the Kylin testnet and invited the community to join their beta test. In this article you’ll find clear instructions on how to create a testnet account and generate tokens to join the beta testing.

From what we can see, making predictions will be a fun and easy experience for the user while interacting with a very clean interface. For now, there are only a few markets to select but the team has already confirmed that they’ll be adding more markets throughout the testing phase.

In the future, users will not only be able to bet on outcomes but also be able to create their own prediction markets while choosing the oracle which provides the needed real world data such as political elections, sports matches, asset prices, etc.

Besides the launch of the PredIQt MVP, the Everipedia team also announced that they hired Daniel Liebeskind as their new Chief of Product Officer. Daniel is known by many in the community for his work on the Chestnut project and has also been involved a variety of succesful projects that you can read about on his Everipedia page.

The market is clearly excited about a fast and fee-less decentralized prediction markets as another team has recently announced their own platform. Veles announced themselves as the first price prediction dApp on the EOS public network and are currently offering price prediction of cryptoassets using Binance as their single source of data. According to the project’s release article, Veles plans to add more opportunities to create markets later on.

PARSL

CEO Dr. Isaac Baldwin and his team at PARSL have been working hard on their supply chain project and we were pleased to see some activity this week in the form of a fascinating article and some positive price action for the SEED token.

Through their deep analysis of the legal cannabis industry, the team uncovered a few omnipresent problems that Marijuana Related Businesses (MRBs) are facing. The biggest problem is that MRBs operating in the legal cannabis industry have serious problems getting proper banking services which leads to two-thirds of MRBs being unbanked. This forces them to conduct all of their business in cash, even going as far as hiring armored trucks to deliver and pay their taxes.

Fortunately, Parsl provides a solution for these businesses through their recently announced POD stable coin, allowing the industry to operate cash-free while also easing the concerns of banks over compliance issues.

Introducing innovative solutions to ease the growing pains of this still young industry is a great strategy to develop a strong foothold and secure many partnerships.

For that matter, the Parsl team just got a little bigger with the hiring of Mark Crandell as their President of North America. Mark has an impressive track record of 25 years of experience and has already been integral in a couple of key North American developments for PARSL!

DAC

If you’ve read, listened or watched previous Hot Sauce Editions, you might have noticed that we’re big fans of DACs. It should come as no surprise that we are excited about the recent DAC Factory update by eosDAC!

The eosDAC team is building a business model around supporting DACs via a premium DAC hosting service. This approach will accelerate the adoption of the DAC model and opens up opportunities for less tech savvy DAC fanatics to also run and operate their own DAC.

How this business model is going to be structured and what the community deems to be fair is open for discussion and the team asked for constructive feedback on the matter.

It’s important to remember that the core of what eosDAC does will always be open source and available to everyone in the EOSIO the community.

KARMA

The Karma app keeps improving their product on all levels. After a thorough update of the application itself, introducing tipping/boosting of content, a simplified login and KARMA Usernames, the website and overall branding also recently got a new look.

One of the recurring problems for users was still the RAM consumption, but this was solved as the team updated their smart contract and promised that users will never have to worry about RAM anymore. And there’s more to come as CEO Dallas Rushing recently hinted to the potential integration of atomic swaps on Karma via Yolo, an EOS exchange brought to us by the Kyber Network.

BOID Season 2

BOID, is the Social Supercomputer on EOS, where users can unite their computing power to help scientific research in the fields of medicine, astrology, climatology and machine learning.

In exchange participants will earn BOID tokens and the whole experience is nicely gamified through rankings and the ability for users to join a team to earn additional team-specific rewards. This fun competition has just started Season 2 and there are several different teams this season offering up various rewards.

Hire Vibes Launch recap

After a successful launch of the Hirevibes alpha, the team shared a couple of stats as well as feedback from users.

In their article, they introduced a new refined on-boarding flow as well as a few of other improvements, some of which are already available and others, such as the integrated wallet, is being finalized.

The team also announced that they’ve added a great advisor in Rami James, whom we all know and love from Scatter. Rami will be helping improve the Hirevibes UX and on-boarding process.

Block.one

While the EOS dApp and BP Community is focused on getting ready for the EOSIO 1.8 Update, the good people at Block.one are pushing hard to continue to grow and improve the EOSIO protocol.

EOSIO software is built to make blockchain applications scalable so that a decentralized economy powered by smart contracts can be adopted by the masses. One year after its launch, the EOS public network has lived up to these promises as it quickly established itself as the most utilized open and permissionless blockchain network on the planet! On July 9th, Block.one published an article on Cointelegraph to introduce the strategic vision behind EOSIO to the wider public and explain why blockchain scalability is so important.

On July 18th, Block.one followed it up by publishing a longer article that elaborates how they plan to further scale the EOSIO ecosystem. This article is Part 1 of 4 of a series that will examine the EOSIO Strategic Vision foundation based on four core principles of focus: Scalability, Developers, Users, and Enterprises.

The much anticipated EOS Virtual Machine (EOS VM) plays an important factor here, as it provides the first web assembly specially designed for blockchain applications.

EOS VM is designed to tackle the following problems:

• Deterministic execution of blockchain applications
• The limited capacity of WebAssembly engines
• Bounded memory allocation
• Loading time limitations
• Decreased overall performance and reliability
• Resource reliance
• Overhead calls to native code
• Single-threaded performance

Scaling EOSIO effectively also means a growing amount of data stored in the blockchain’s history. In order to improve the accessibility of this data, Block.one has been working on a series of history tools and just released an alpha version introducing database fillers that read the state data as well as populate PostgreSQL and LMDB databases that can be queried with the specialized client and server WASMs. If you are unfamiliar with some of these terms, head over to their article to find a more detailed explanation.

Diving deeper into these articles you’ll find a clear strategy and long-term goals which Block.one has set for itself. In order to reach these lofty goals, Block.one has been steadily growing their team and we recently saw them opening several new positions such as content creator, technical writer and senior security researcher.

Decentralizing Finance on EOSIO

One of the most valuable use-cases for cryptoassets is its’ ability to generate some much needed competition for traditional finance systems as well as leading curious retail investors to learn more about economics, markets, and finance as they dive deep into crypto research.

From a high level, society has benefited tremendously from telecommunication technologies and globalized markets but there is no doubt that it has left some segments of the human population behind. A fairer, more efficient and accessible financial system seems to be the logical next step in the evolution of money.

Decentralization of finance will play a major role in this process as it offers superior levels of security and eliminates many potential sources of conflict for some people as the underlying protocol doesn’t favor any one party over another.

The fact that Facebook, a platform that can be seen as a representation of a global society, is introducing a global payment system through its’ Libra project is another indicator of this coming evolution of money.

However, Facebook’s plans are just the tip of the iceberg and the term Decentralized Finance (DeFi) seems to be popping up everywhere in recent months.

This week we would like to take a look at some interesting DeFi projects that are built on EOSIO and are decentralizing not only the underlying infrastructure of the validation process but also the control, management, and ownership of their respective projects.

Vigor Stable Coin

First, let’s first take a look at Vigor, a fully DAC-managed project that aims to create a crypto-backed stablecoin that tracks the US dollar without a central counterparty.

Vigor enables participants to separate and transfer both volatility risk and price event risk through open source escrow smart contracts, similar to the MakerDAO but with all the added benefits of the EOS public network.

Participants can be either borrowers or insurers (lenders) and can be elected by the VIG token holders to become custodians empowered to make decisions to steer the project. Furthermore, VIG’s utility is to provide access to the system, to be used as a fee token, and to be used as a final reserve. VIG tokens will be airdropped through a distribution method that is still being discussed (share your ideas!) and will be designed in a way that discourages whale-sized holders.

One thing is clear, in order to get VIG tokens you need to participate in the Vigor DAC by signing the constitution. You can further engage the team in their main Telegram group or on task-specific chats about development, governance or media work. The process of building VIGOR is proving to be decentralized from the get-go, which is great to see.

Good Money

Now that we’ve seen how a stable currency can be built and managed in a decentralized fashion, lets take a look at a project that aims to decentralize ownership. For example, users of a platform could earn ownership shares as they interact as a reward for being the true driving factor in the value creation.

Introducing GoodMoney, “the first digital and mobile co-operative banking platform” where users become owners the moment they open an account. By using the platform and its debit card, the Good Money card, as well as through inviting new members, users can increase their ownership share and earn additional rewards. On top of that, the platform promises a 4% yield (2% cash and 2% shares) on deposits, provides a feeless service and 50% of its profits goes to non-profit organisations of the users’ choosing.

While Good Money is not a licensed bank, they can still facilitate banking services (loans and deposit products) which are provided by a FDIC-insured third-party banking partner.

The idea behind this project is very ambitious and we have yet to see them roll out their product. What does make us very excited is that this DeFi platform raised 30 Million USD in a Series A funding round led by EOS VC Galaxy Digital, making this a project worthy of our attention.

EDNA

It was not long ago that scientists managed to read our DNA for the first time and we still have much to learn about these sets of genes that define who we are. Companies like “23andMe”, “AncestryDNA” and “FamilyTreeDNA” made it a business to cater to the curiosity around this topic. Unfortunately, their business models included tricking users into unknowingly giving away their rights to monetize the generated data.

It should come as no surprise then that DNA research is gravitating towards blockchain as more and more people understand the value of personal data and the importance of privacy. Last week we mentioned one such project, GeneOS, which is building its own EOSIO network and this week we discuss EDNA, which runs on the EOS public network.

EDNA creates a professional DNA testing service as well as a marketplace to generate profits from the results. All the information is kept private and secured using similar techniques we know from privacy coins like Zcash and Monero, only allowing the data to be accessed and sold with the consent of the DNA owners. This means that users always get to decide to who they sell their data to, for how much, and for which purposes.

In order to make this service widely available, the initial costs of 1000 USD for the physical DNA test can be covered through a loan, which then gets paid back through the profits generated by selling the test results.

EDNA presents a well thought out economic model around the value of life and strives to protect personal rights. The team even supports a selection of charitable organizations with whom they share a portion of the profits that are generated through EDNA.

EDNA has been in development since before the launch of the EOS public network and was one of the first tokens to be airdropped to EOS genesis accounts. The team has recently announced an update regarding this airdrop.

In short, EDNA is interested in an active user base and they have decided to reclaim airdropped tokens from accounts that showed no EDNA token activity whatsoever. No worries though, all these tokens can be claimed back once a user decides he wants them, as shown at the end of this video.

EOS Nation wins DSP Portal Challenge!

The team at LiquidApps is consistently publishing high quality and thought provoking articles and this week we’d like to highlight two of them.

In their most recent article, CEO Beni Hakak articulates his thoughts eloquently on the topic of reducing the growing rivalries between competing blockchain communities which in recent years turned from healthy discussions to stubborn tribalism. He suggests interoperability as the key to coexistence in his well written article.

In another fascinating article published only one day earlier, LiquidApps applies findings from behavioral economics to the “Air HODL” model in order to help build self-sustaining networks, improve multiplayer games, and accelerate the growth of cooperative communities.

We believe that the messages shared here are highly valuable and it’s great to see the LiquidApps team showing great initiative in not just building amazing tools but also in uniting, growing and nurturing communities.

Games Games Games!

Once again, there is lots going on in the realm of gaming on EOS! New games are being announced, previously announced games are getting released and released games are growing their user base.

A great example of the latter is Prospectors, a real-time economic strategy game which launched just a couple of weeks ago. Since launch, the game keeps climbing up the rankings and is now already the forth most used dApp across all chains with over 2000 daily active users.

This caught the attention of DappRadar so they introduced the game to the wider dApp community and also co-operated with the Prospectors team on a token lottery event, which creates an additional incentive for new users to check out the game!

Besides having fun playing and earning PGL tokens, Prospectors allows investors to earn dividends. We’re happy to report that the PGL token has been recently added to the growing Tokenyield platform, which is our favorite place to check for potential dividends of EOS based tokens.

The CHAINWISE Group from Germany recently came to our attention and from their recent announcements we expect to see some high-quality products coming soon from this team.

One of these announced products is Chain Clash, a free-to-play collectible and battle game, with the clever approach of utilizing the rivalry that exists between blockchain communities.

Gamers can collect, train, and trade a variety of avatar fighters (NFTS) and join forces with like-minded people to form crypto clans. The game will be launching in Q3 / 2019 and if you want to be one of the early testers you can join the beta testing here.

The second product announced by the CHAINWISE Group is the Wombat Wallet.

While not a game itself, this wallet provides free accounts and a dApp Explorer that promises instant access to some of the most popular EOS dApps, brings more users and therefore more fun to games on EOS.

Owning and trading NFTS is also a fundamental feature in Darktown by ITAM Games, which was officially released on July 16th! 1.8 Update on the EOS Public Network

In the last few weeks, the Block Producers of the EOS public network came together to work on a realistic timeline to update all the nodes of the network, which also includes those that are not producing blocks.

The EOSIO 1.8 update is the first “hardfork” in the history of the EOS public network and nodes ran by dApps are also required to be updated.

As we know from decentralized networks, communication is key and some time is needed to assure that every participant is informed about the upcoming events.

To understand the update process and the underlying reasons for the non-contentious hardfork, the Block Producer Community released an article (English, Chinese, Korean) which you can find here. In the article you will also find a survey which should be filled out by any node operator on the network. Collecting this information will make it much easier to coordinate the necessary steps and ensure a smooth transition.

EOSIO 1.8 will introduce the fundamental changes that will allow Block.one to release their flagship product VOICE to the EOS public network. This is a highly anticipated event since the product was announced on June 1st, 2019 in Washington D.C.

On an open call on Tuesday the 9th of July, the community of node operators came together to discuss the update process, ask and answer questions, define responsibilities and set milestones on the way to EOSIO 1.8.

As a result, a poll was submitted to set the common goal of the whole network to be ready to execute the update on September 23rd at 13:00 UTC. At the time of writing, 12 Block Producers and 29 Standbys have signaled to be ready to update at that time.

Note: This update is a prerequisite for Voice however, it is unlikely that Voice will launch on this date.

The poll can be found on EOS Authority’s website and the list Block Producer that have signed can be found on EOS Titan’s visual heatmap tool.

Being in development since before the EOS public network launched in June 2018, HireVibes has been a staple of the community from the very start. Effect Force

Effect.AI is one of those projects that migrated to the EOS public network after realizing their prior blockchain network of choice (NEO) could not deliver the performance they were looking for. With the launch of their first product, Effect Force, organizations can use this global human workforce to structure and enrich vast amounts of data from users who are rewarded by earning EFX tokens when completing small tasks.

Effect Force is the first decentralized microtasking platform for AI development and the team is confident that they can deliver more results more efficiently than competitors such as Amazon’s MTurks by leveraging the benefits that the EOS public network offers. Part of the team’s mission here is to bring jobs to places that are economically challenged and for that, they are cooperating with the UN in Georgia as well as working with the governments of Australia and New Zealand.

Bithumb Votes and BP Ranking Video

The DPOS Consensus model allows EOSIO blockchains to overcome many limitations found in POW chains, allowing scalable decentralized applications to exist on the network.

What secures this network is not an arms race of hardware components but rather the participation and commitment of token holders that stake their investment in order to vote for Block Producers. The BP rankings are subject to constant changes, as can been seen in this great video from EOS Authority that illustrates the constant BP ranking changes. Pay attention to what happens in November 2018! 💪

It’s always good to see more tokens voting since this is essential for the security of the chain. On this topic, we were happy to notice that Bithumb, an exchange currently holding ~54 million EOS tokens, started to participate in the voting process. Bithumb is looking to distribute their voting power by delegating it to several trusted proxies and we saw the first 5 million votes proxied to the Brock Pierce Proxy. This proxy includes EOS Nation so we want to say a big thank you to Brock Pierce, Bithumb and the wider Korean community for all the support they have shown us since the launch of the network. We appreciate it greatly! 🙏

Builders on EOSIO

The development of EOSIO is impressive and what Block.one is releasing goes in tandem with all the developments in the community. Just recently they published an article introducing a dedicated repository in GitHub through which they can more closely collaborate with the developer community.

As Block.One explains it:

“The release of the EOSIO Specification Repository is an opportunity for everyone to review, comment, and build upon the ideas for which we’ve laid the foundation.”

Besides onboarding and educating new developer talents, Block.one also rewards more advanced developers by shining their spotlight on them and their team.

Most recently this privilege was given to a company called 28.G, a company that “combines personal wellness insights with the potential of individuals being able to share in the value from their genetic data”. You might have heard GeneOS, as they were the winners of the EOS Global Hackathon Series Grand Finale. It’s an exciting project based on the G.E.M. protocol, which stands for the Genome Equity Model, that brings the terms owning your data to a whole new level. As always, we encourage you to dive deeper and read more about it in this EOSIO spotlight article.

Another project that was recently featured in a Block.one spotlight article was Sense.chat, which we have mentioned several times in previous Hot Sauces. In the article, CEO Crystal Rose Pierce shares the Sense.Chat vision, their plans for the future, and why building on EOSIO makes Sense.

Installing Sense allows you to chat on-chain in a fully encrypted way and their recently added channel “#bounties” offers opportunities to increase your Sense token balance by doing some simple tasks.

This weeks final Block.one update actually comes from EOS Lao Mao as they recently built out a full version of the Block.one Authenticator code and submitted it to the App Store. It’s important to understand that Block.one released their wallet code to the public so that all existing wallets can benefit from their research and development. We think this was a great decision by Block.one and it’s a great example of the unique value that can be created inside an open-source, decentralized, permissionless, public blockchain like the EOS public network.

Speaking of wallets…

TokenPocket’s MiniWallet

The wallets for EOSIO based chains are much more than just an interface to manage your funds: they also act as a gateway to the entire EOSIO-based economy. Their universal login is tremendously helpful for dApp interaction and they are simplifying processes like staking tokens, voting, and network resource management. These wallets protect your keys while making it easy for you to organize all the data that is attached to your blockchain identity in a single, convenient location.

Whitelisting certain trusted transactions can really increase the speed at which you interact with EOSIO networks. TokenPocket users will be happy to learn that this feature has been implemented in the recent TokenPocket update, further improving the user experience of dApps. This new feature, called MiniWallet, allows users to customize permissions for each action within each dApp. To help developers integrate this feature, they also released an SDK.

TokenPocket is very active in the EOSIO Community and has partnered with various EOS projects and is home to many chains. Their mission to improve the general user experience of dApps and to connect different chains in one wallet should be welcomed by the whole industry.

This mission was further manifested in their recent partnership with dapp.com.

For those interested in the Token Pocket Token (TPT), the TokenPocket Foundation has used 25% of their revenue from June to repurchase and burn 3.18M TPT at the cost of 1858 EOS.

EOS Lynx Desktop 2.0

EOS Lynx is another very popular wallet among the EOSIO community that drew a lot of praise for bringing a high level of user-friendliness to a desktop wallet. With the recent release of Lynx Desktop 2.0, Lynx promises a “lean back and click” experience, inspired by the Apple App Store and the Netflix Responsive Interface. Also, the token management features of the Lynx mobile clients have now been fully implemented and all the dApps supported on mobile are now also available on your desktop!

Easy, Free and Forever

The LiquidApps community is growing and so is the development activity. This week the team released an example for an “immortal dApp” that lives up to their motto of “Easy, Free and Forever”. Elemental Battles, originally released by Block.one, has been reworked to showcase all the benefits of the DAPP Network in one product.

In short, those advantages are:

- no keys to enter, no wallets to open, no transactions to sign
- no managing resources, no paying for accounts, no losing keys
- smooth on-boarding process
- cheap to run
- immortal frontend hosting

Another article released by LiquidApps discusses social media and how a decentralized version of it could be leveraging the DAPP Network. It’s an interesting thought piece, that we are happy to share here for you to dive deeper into this pressing issue.

EOS VC Funding

We see many gaming and social media projects utilizing the benefits of EOSIO. The flexibility of EOSIO allows many use cases and the protocol is used for blockchain and smart contract solution in the business and industrial world as well. As examples, we would like to report 2 recent investments that were made by EOS VCs.

The first investment we would like to report was made by the EOS VC FinLab Ag, which was a substantial seven-digit Euro investment in the German company Arxum GmbH, a provider of blockchain solutions for connecting the manufacturing industry with customers and suppliers.

Arxum is among the first and leading companies to successfully apply third-generation distributed ledger technology (DLT) in an industrial and manufacturing context. They are using the EOSIO blockchain to facilitate secure and automated data exchange as well as business information transfers between industrial customers and suppliers.

“Arxum’s technology and the strong industrial business focus of the solution was one of FinLab’s decision criteria. We are convinced that Arxum has the potential to disrupt industrial business interaction and we support them in establishing the EOSIO protocol as an effective state-of-the-art data exchange standard”, explains Juan Rodriguez, Managing Director of FinLab EOS VC Fund.

A second investment that caught our attention was an investment round led by EOS VC Galaxy Digital which raised 5.5 Million USD for Clause, a digital contract management startup.

Among the other investors was a well-known company called Docusign.

Founded in 2016, Clause offers blockchain-based solutions to facilitate the creation, storage, and maintenance of digital contracts for businesses. However, it also offers clients these same services independent of blockchain technology — by using existing platforms such as Stripe or PayPal. CEO Peter Hunn explains:

“Clause is a system that doesn’t rely on a particular blockchain. It’s blockchain-agnostic and also blockchain-independent. What we mean by that is you can run Clause without the blockchain infrastructure at all. You could just have a contract that you sign using an e-signature service that then initiates a payment through Stripe or PayPal that you connect to that agreement”

While Clause will is not exclusively going to use EOSIO for their service, it’s still interesting to see an EOS VC investing in the project and in this specific sector.

LiquidApps Adoption

There has been a LOT of activity regarding the LiquidApps Dapp Network in recent weeks.

With the first DSP Portals up and running many dApps are making use of this amazing EOS public network layer 2 solution to further scale their services in a very cost-efficient manner. These dApps were showcased in a recently released video from LiquidApps. It comes with no surprise that some of the best known and most used dApps on the EOS public network are among them.

To get an idea of how much more efficient the DAPP Network really is, the team released a case study for the Karma Project which revealed that they were able to reduce their costs for RAM by 99%.

The speed in which these developments are happening is remarkable, especially since this is just the beginning and many possibly use-cases have yet to be explored. To get an idea of the possibilities of the DAPP Network we encourage you to listen to this great panel with some of the Dapp Service Providers (DPSs) already in business, among them EOS Nation, Blockstart and AirdropsDAC.

The value proposition of LiquidApps is also getting more recognition outside of the EOS ecosystem as the CEO Beni Hakak did an interview about the project to CryptoNewsz.

Currently, the most known product of LiquidApps is LiquidRAM (previously known as vRAM).

Since one of the reasons for the cost of new user accounts on the EOS public network is RAM, the team will offer a new service called LiquidAccounts enabling a project to provide free accounts for users. This is a massive improvement for any on-boarding strategy and is likely to be a requirement for mass adoption. Here’s a video which explains this further.

Another product recently released by the LiquidApps team is the ZEUS SDK (Software Development Kit) which streamlines EOS and DAPP Network dApp Development.

DSPs can also offer other services like oracles which provide real-world data for smart contracts so that they can execute accordingly. This feature will be used for example in PredIQt, the prediction market of Everipedia’s IQ Network, which will go live on the EOS public network soon.

As you can see, the team at LiquidApps and the DSPs of the DAPP Network are working hard to make EOSIO the most efficient platform for dApp developers, which in the end is beneficial to users and investors as well.

BOS v3.0.0 Successfully Deployed on BOS Testnet

After a month of testing and improving, BOS v3.0.0 was released on June 29th.

The update was successfully deployed on the BOS test net on July 2nd, during a community Zoom Call to coordinate the collective effort.

One of the most prominent features of this update is an upgrade of the EOSIO consensus algorithm. The new version supports both the current DPoS Pipelined-PBFT and the DPoS Batch-PBFT consensus algorithms.

At the beginning of the Zoom call, the DPoS Batch-PBFT was introduced by BOSCore developer Deadlock and we encourage you to watch this recording if you want to learn more about the underlying technical finesse.

Batch-PBFT introduces block finality speeds 50 times faster than EOS, which makes it the fastest consensus protocol currently known in the blockchain industry, allowing BOSCore transactions to become irreversible within 3 seconds.

This kind of performance opens up possibilities for many real-world use cases such as retail payments.

Version 3.0.1 was deployed shortly after to fix a memory leak

Equlibrium Stablecoin

Equilibrium is a very promising crypto collateralized algorithmic stablecoin built on the EOS public network. It seems to have resonated well with the community as it already stores 2.5 Million EOS in collateral in order to generate the EOSDT stablecoin.

Rumor is that the Equilibrium Team is working on implementing Dan Larimer’s recently suggested algorithm for an over-collateralized stablecoin. Dan Larimer even chimed in and gave his opinions in their Telegram Chat. Exciting!

An additional reason why the project caught more and more attention is that they recently implemented REX in partnership with EOS Authority, which brings additional capital into the pool to benefit the holders of the EOSDT stablecoin.

With so much EOS already stored with potentially much more flowing in, the voting weight of the Equilibrium Account has become quite substantial. For that matter, the team announced their proxy and invited the community to take part in a poll to decide for which BPs their stored tokens should vote for.

The voting is currently off-chain in the form of an online poll open to everyone and doesn’t require holding any EOSDT (the stabecoin) or NUT (the governance token). The team expects to complete the final on-chain voting algorithm by the end of Q3 2019 and when it’s complete, NUT holders will have the ability to periodically re-elect the list of BPs that make up the proxy.

Initiatives like this could be creating the necessary incentives to mobilize users that are currently not voting with their own accounts as well as users that keep their EOS on exchanges.

After a recent partnership with Phil Mesnier from Object Computing and adding the CEO of EOSphere Ross Dold to the team as acting CTO, the team has now added a prolific member of the music business. From now on Nicc Johnson will join Emanate as a Musicology and Genre adviser. He’s well known in the industry as the CEO of Muru Music

Another initiative to grow their team in a more decentralized fashion is the recently announced Emanate Music Co-operative (EMC) for which they also made an open call for pilot Emanate Reps. So if you are familiar with Emanate, passionate about music and want to get more involved in the EOS Ecosystem we encourage you to take a closer look!

Block.One

After the event of Block.one on June 1st in Washington D.C. some people were asking for the previously announced EOSIO development roadmap. While it was not featured on stage during the presentation, it was released on their website under “strategic vision” and was also showcased during the event on multiple screens.

Block.one has published a video to further elaborate what that means for developers.

Meanwhile, the EOSIO v1.8.0 code, which is fundamental for the launch of VOICE, was released on Github as well as v1.7 for the eosio.contracts code. The next step is to update each node of the network and EOS Nation is happy to help coordinate this effort. EOS Nation as a Guardian of CampDAO

The Burning Man Festival is a one of a kind festival with a large decentralized community that believes in collaboration over competition. Each year for 9 days people from all around the world come together to build a city in the desert of Nevada to experiment on new models of society and explore new forms of organization. Wait, doesn’t that sound familiar?

Isn’t EOSIO a platform where new models of communities, like DACs and DAOs, can be easily created?

Of course it is! Then it should come as no surprise that a few Key Opinion Leaders from the EOS Community came together to form a camp for this years’ Burning Man!

Introducing CampDAO, a tokenized Burning Man camp based on EOSIO that aims to experience the benefits of a DAO in real life.

CampDAO will be managed and organized using DACfactory by eosDAC.

By using EOSIO tools to run CampDAO, this project is a chance to experiment with and showcase how blockchain tools can be used to organize communities and events in a decentralized way. Besides the real-life example, the camp will host a series of talks and workshops to further elaborate on the concept of DAOs and the promises of EOSIO.

CampDAO is an opportunity to build relationships with other like-minded communities, strengthen the relationships within the EOS community, and to start a tradition that can grow and thrive by the will of the CampDAO hive mind!

The token sale with a minimum goal of raising 10000 EOS has already started and funds are going to be used to provide all things necessary to bootstrap the camp. Purchases that are reusable will be stored and used again next year.

Scatter 11 Meteoric

The new Scatter is out and brings many improvements on existing features like the transaction history and an overall redesign of the UI. There are also new features that deserve a closer look.

Earning Dividends

The beauty of decentralization is not limited to multiple improvements in data security but it also means new and innovative shared ownership structures. Some EOS projects are exploring these new ownership structures by paying out dividends, on-chain, to their investors. Actually, there are so many projects like that on EOS that it’s hard to track it all! Sneak Peak Demo of the New Effect Force Data Micro-Tasking Platform.

AI technologies are on a steady rise and many predict that human work for low-level tasks will soon will be a thing of the past due to the economic efficiency of automated processes. Some people are afraid of AI because they don’t fully understand what it means. Artificial Intelligence means converting human knowledge into an algorithm that can be applied over and over again at no extra cost and that is exactly what Effect.AI does.

Their first product will be Effect Force, which is the first decentralized micro-tasking platform for AI development. Organizations will use Effect Force to transact between a global human workforce to structure and enrich vast amounts of data, while users can earn EFX by completing small tasks.

Effect Force will go live on the EOS public network on July 10th and registrations will be open for everyone to join, qualify and then earn tokens for training AI. We can expect this to be a fun experience not just for tech-savvy people since there will be leader boards, levels and over 40 badges to collect.

Privacy on EOS

There are currently a few projects focusing on privacy in the EOS ecosystem, each with a different use case.

PEOS is focused on private transactions hiding who sends to who, whereas PrivEOS is more about the privacy of data which means encrypting shared files in a way so that no one without permission can have access.

A recent video explained the difference between the 2 in detail.

PrivEOS, for example, is essential for the EOSIO based Europechain to comply with GDPR regulations for users from Europe. However, once PrivEOS is finalized it will work on all EOSIO based chains.

PEOS is not designed for encrypting files, instead, it focuses on an option to keep transactions private. How they are planning to do that is explained here.

PEOS’ private transactions were spotted on the jungle testnet just recently and we are excited for them to release those privacy functionalities on the EOS public network.

PEOS also announced to allocate 50 million pEOS tokens originally reserved for the team to a fund with the mission to support third-party privacy oriented projects; projects that take advantage of the pEOS technology and the pEOS token.

That’s 25% of the team’s original incentives to build pEOS!

Novosphere (ATMOS token) is a third EOS privacy project that deserves to be mentioned here. The goal is to give users the ability to post content anonymously through the ATMOSdb, which works similarly to a side-chain where stakers can stake ATMOS tokens and validate data/transactions that take place on the ATMOS layer.

Their first product utilizing ATMOSdb is eos.discussions, which many might know from their AMA’s with popular projects as well as hosting one of the Endless Dappathons.

Chintai 2.0

EOS tokens are more than just a currency for payments. Each EOS token represents a fraction of the computing resources of the whole public network on which EOSIO based applications are running. However, many token holders are speculative investors and hold more resources than they actually need for their daily use. Chintai came to life to create a marketplace for those unused resources, allowing developers to have the cheapest development costs possible while allowing token holders to earn interest on their assets.

Since launching in 2018, the Chintai team has been listening to community feedback and have now released a full update, which greatly improves the general usability of the platform.

Chintai 2.0 now has full Ledger support, is optimized for mobile use, features user profiles, introduces a practical market finder and has language support for English, Chinese and Korean.

Soon the new Chintai will also make use of its native CHEX token for which the auction is still going on. Find more info here.

Bountyblok!

Gamification, rewards, and loyalty programs are being integrated into many marketing and awareness campaigns to motivate and connect customers and users in a fun way. Many models have proven their value already and it’s the right time to ask how the accumulated data like ranking, scores or contributions are administered. At the moment, most of these models are still working with centralized databases with all the flaws and risks that come with it. Infeos, created by Infinite X Labs and open-sourced for the benefit of the entire EOSIO community, is a JavaScript & npm framework for EOSIO dApps development (EOS, Telos, Worbli), building, deployment and testing using eosjs and the EOSIO protocol. Infeos also added unit testing for EOS smart contracts with Javascript instead of C++. As far as we know, they are the only ones with this feature.

In terms of community building, Dimitar is the leader of EOS Bulgaria and has been a leading contributor in his country in terms of producing education materials, hosting community events, workshops and even podcasts. Today we introduce Coinbase Earn, a great initiative from Coinbase to incentivize new users to learn about crypto in the hopes of increasing the rate of blockchain adoption. The strategy is to pay users to learn about different blockchain technologies. Coinbase CTO, Balaji Srinivasan describes the vision behind the initiative: “first adoption came from mining crypto, next it came from buying it, and now moving forward it will be by earning it.”

Even as an EOS Block Producer, we strongly recommend everyone to watch all the educational videos Coinbase provides. Investigate and get familiar with several blockchains and the goals and use cases they seek to provide.

In this tutorial we will show you how you can easily turn any EOS account into a proxy account by using the wallet tools on bloks.io.

A proxy account manages voting rights and chooses BP candidates on behalf of subscribed accounts. If you don’t know who to vote for but trust a certain community members’ judgment, an option you have is to proxy your vote to them. Interested in managing your own proxy? Follow this EOS Nation Tutorial and easily convert your EOS account into a proxy account.

Step 1 — Login

First log into the EOS account that you want to convert into a proxy account.

Step 2 — Create Proxy

Go to the wallet tab and look for “proxies” under “list of tools”. Here you have the option to “create and delete a proxy” as well as “register or unregister a proxy.” Click create or delete proxy. Now click on “Create Proxy” and this will pull up a regproxy action.

To add details to your proxy account such as display name, background information, website and social media links you will need to click on “Register Proxy”.

Step 3 — Lookup your Proxy

To look up your proxy, go to the aloha EOS Proxy Research Portal. Of course, our sample proxy will have minimal information, but looking up our interNATIONal Proxy you can see all our proxy information: account name “Proxy4nation”, the amount of proxied EOS, its decay, our philosophy & background, our current candidate votes as well as all the individual proxied accounts.

In this tutorial, we will show you how to change your EOS active key. All EOS accounts have 2 key pairs that control the account. One key pair is known as the owner key and the other as the active key. You can approve all EOS transactions with either one of these keys but only the owner key has the ability to change the active permission.

This is important for account security. By default all EOS accounts have the same owner and active key therefore in order to take advantage of the second layer of account security offered on EOSIO it is strongly advised to change the active key, which should be the one used for all your transactions. If somehow your active key is compromised, you can simply use your owner key to change the active one.

Step 1 — Login using bloks.io with OWNER Key

Go ahead and log into bloks.io using your accounts’ owner key.

Click on the “Wallet” tab and on the left-hand side look for “change permissions” located under “account”. Here you will have the ability to change the current owner or active keys to the account.

Step 2 — Generate a New Key

Using a key generator, like the EOS Authority portal, safety generate a new set of keys. Once properly and securely stored, copy and paste your “public” key to the bloks.io “change permissions” “new active key” field and click “change permissions”.

Step 3 — Import your key into your wallet

You will then need to import your new private key into your wallet. In our example, we are using scatter. Opening scatter, click on “add keys”, “import key”, “text” and paste your private key and then click “import”. Scatter will then find your account and securely import your keys. You can then rename the account but this is just an internal scatter account organization function.

Step 4 — Verify Account Permissions have been Modified

Finally, let’s go back to Bloks.io and look up our account. Click on permissions and you will see that our owner and active keys are now different.
