Fysisk kvittering = Brev

Digital kvittering = Mobiltelefon

Smart kvittering = Smarttelefon

“Zeipt is created as the one stop shop for post purchase communication, from the checkout at the retailer directly to the consumer where it “unlocks” the most value.

● Accounting software for automatic expense management

○ Vat rate per article as defined by the seller

○ Actual article number from the seller

○ Kickback to retailers for each receipt delivered to accounting software

● Banking for consumption overview

○ Control your budget

○ Consumer security, never lose your receipt again

○ Find the receipt directly for return and insurance processes

○ Post purchase finance options (Get money now and get a payment plan instead)

○ Add insurance, see your carbon dioxide footprint etc…

● Loyalty solution for consumption kickback

○ Get coffee stamps on your coffee card,

○ Get 10 percentage on next purchase

○ Get gift cards, fly mileage points etc…

This is what we call the smart receipt, a data stream directly to where your financial choice unlocks the most value for you and the retailer.”

People fighting over toilet paper, yeast and sardines (I mean, did you even eat those?) became everyday news over night, as everyone seemed to be preparing for what they thought would be the beginning of an apocalypse. We have, however, also witnessed some positive changes, like the lessening of water pollution in the canals in Venice, which made it very easy to believe when the bogus news of dolphins and swans returning to the canals released.

Much like the fairytale news of swans and dolphins living in harmony in Venice, we are likely deluding ourselves if we actually believe the fight against climate change is over, or even paused. Here are a few of the concerns.

And just like what was seen in the aftermath of 2008, we will likely be seeing a higher rise of CO2 emissions after the crisis packages, than the fall during the recession itself.

Growth of renewable energy might face a significant break. In times like these we know that people are less willing to invest their money. This could have a huge impact on the research and development of renewable energy sources, also in the time after the pandemic is over. Not to mention the difficulty of continuing projects that require materials from different countries in a time when most borders are closed. As a consequence, many projects have already been stopped.

“BE SURE TO WASH YOU HANDS AND ALL WILL BE WELL”

The worlds most important climate summit got cancelled. The meeting planned to be held in Glasgow, Scotland, got cancelled due to the pandemic, and although hopes are set to 2021, nothing is certain; except that postponing, even if just for a year, will show noteworthy marks on the climate.
Experts have also raised their concerns regarding the consequential lack of pressure the countries will receive to follow up on their goals, as the climate falls behind a long list of priorities that accompany the pandemic.

The crisis packages might just make everything way worse. There is great concern among the leaders in the world that the pandemic will result in another financial recession, similar to the one in 2008; which was also the last time we had a fall in the global emissions. However, no leader in their right mind wants an economy led by unemployment and little growth, which is often the reason why panic solutions are sought to. When developing the crisis packages following this pandemic, many countries will likely be tempted to do so by the help of cheap fossil fuels and loosened climate requirements.

Many countries, with Norway being one of them, have already discussed removing important climate restriction in order to secure employment opportunities. And just like what was seen in the aftermath of 2008, we will likely be seeing a higher rise of CO2 emissions after the crisis packages, than the fall during the recession itself.

So maybe not pat ourselves on the back just yet.

—

Have any questions or wish to be contacted by our sales team personally?

Read more:

Fake animal news abounds on social media as coronavirus upends life

Covid-19: Yet Another Reason Why Paper Receipt Are Outdated

Whatever you may call it, we have all felt its effect hitting us over the past couple of months. And although we are aware of how tiring it is that it keeps getting mentioned everywhere, we do need to address an aspect that’s yet to be discussed; contact through paper receipts.

Now, you may be sitting there thinking “How can paper receipts possibly have any correlation to this pandemic?”, and understandably so, we are after all keeping a safe distance to each other, and most cashiers these days are hiding behind a giant glass wall. However, we also know that the virus can survive from several hours to days on contaminated surfaces. Meaning that the distance you kept from the cashier had no effect at all, if you touched the same piece of paper as they did when you unpacked the bags at home.

Although the products and surfaces in the stores are now being thoroughly disinfected, the one thing we know isn’t, is the paper receipt.

…the drastic upswing in the absorptivity rates of BPA (Bisphenol A), a hormone disruptive substance contained in paper receipts, when touching it with moist hands.

There are of course several solutions to this problem, and some are better than others. One way to avoid contamination could, of course, be to not accept the receipt at all. Should you have a problem with your product at a later point, however, you have zero proof that it was in fact purchased at that store.
Another way, which is an already familiar solution, is for the cashier to use a hand sanitizer between every single customer, and preferably the customer to do so before and after receiving the receipt as well. The first problem with this solution is how exhausting and easy to neglect it is. The second, is the drastic upswing in the absorptivity rates of BPA (Bisphenol A), a hormone disruptive substance contained in paper receipts, when touching it with moist hands.

Read more on BPA toxicity HERE.

The last solution we could think of, that we firmly believe would decrease risk of contamination in many situations, without having to accept the risk of wasting money or other toxins getting into your body, is digitizing. Digital receipts are not only cost efficient and environmentally friendly, they also eliminate all concerns regarding losing your receipt or touching a toxic piece of paper. In fact, due to the importance of this modification, we have decided to offer our PRO integration free of charge throughout 2020.

Do we even need more argumentation to why it’s important we digitize now?

—

Have any questions or wish to be contacted by our sales team personally?

Read more:

Zeipt Digital Receipts

Covid-19: How long does the coronavirus last on surfaces?

The Impact of Paper Receipts: A Cancerous Truth

Arriving on February 5th and continuing until February 13th, a heat wave caused drastic melting on the glaciers nearby and after only one day, broke the record at 18.3°C (64.9°F); around the same temperature as Los Angeles the same day.

Such persistent warmth was not typical in Antarctica until the 21st century

It was also observed by Mauri Pelto, a glaciologist at Nichols College that during the event, approximately 1.5 square kilometers (0.9 miles) of snowpack became soaked with melt water, creating large ponds on the glaciers.

“I haven’t seen melt ponds develop this quickly in Antarctica”, Pelto said. “You see these kinds of melt events in Alaska and Greenland, but not usually in Antarctica”.

Nine days of extreme heat. Wildfires, floods, viruses, and not to mention the historic “Megxit”, has stirred up panic as we’ve entered this new decade. And although we would have hoped to write a happier article regarding the year to come, The World Economic Forum recently released their annual in-depth report on the risks the world faces; and this year, climate change topped its biggest concerns.

First time
Every year, ahead of its January conference for the world’s top political and business leaders in Switzerland, The World Economic Forum releases a report on the biggest risks the world faces as a guideline to which concerns we, as a people, should target primarily in the year to come. And although climate change has been on most of our radars for some time now, this year is the first time it topped the list of biggest concerns, since the report’s first launching in 2006.

… or point fingers at some underdeveloped country, simply because we recycle.

The list of 2020 reads:

Top 5 risks by likelihood
1. If we all work together on cutting our emissions and help others do so too, we can fix this. However, there is no longer any time left for us to turn the other cheek, throw in the towel because we can’t be bothered, or point fingers at some underdeveloped country simply because we recycle. We need to remember that climate change affects us all eventually, and does not know borders, so it’s time we set our disruptive ideals, and thoughts, aside and act united, now.

Read more:

Who we are and why you should care.

Mental Health; the psychological effects of global warming

Displaced by Climate Change, but no Refugee

The data was gathered from information published by Nets and BankAxept, two platforms covering almost the entire of card transactions in Norway, and through our calculations we soon discovered the staggering, minimum, number of thermal paper rolls that were utilized during this period.

Find the article HERE

822 500
The number for only one of the two months usually spent on this holiday came down to at very least 822 500 receipt rolls in 2018, which in perspective would translate to enough water to aid ca. 254 000 people in that same period.

And with that our resolution, just like the one’s of most of the people showing up at the gym the first week of January each year, failed.

Although the optimism and our hopes were high for this years cut in consumption, the numbers from November 2019 disappointed. With a 3,5 % increase, the Norwegian consumption rose to 170,2 million card transactions in November 2019 in comparison to the year before. And with that our resolution, just like the one’s of most of the people showing up at the gym the first week of January each year, failed.

However disappointing, giving up is not an option for us, and neither should it be for anyone else. Climate change is here, it is real, and we need to change our ways today and every coming day in this new decade. The fact is indeed that we have work to do, fast, and for many valid reasons, where a possible climate migration crisis, is a solid one of them. However, in the midst of this crisis, terminology becomes increasingly important; why?

Refugee: someone who has a well-founded fear of being persecuted because of his or her race, religion, nationality, membership of a particular social group or political opinion

By looking at the definition of a refugee, set by the UN in 1951, it becomes very clear that climate change, a problem not yet on the radar, didn’t, and still doesn’t, qualify a person to seek refuge in other countries. The consequences for people affected by climate disasters, however, are still very real and dangerous, so how come this hasn’t been revised and updated since?

Although the UN very much affirm the situation of the growing amount of people affected by disaster displacement, they are still unwilling to legally reference them as refugees, for one particular reason -rewriting the convention being impractical.

Nationalism and anti-immigration
Nina Birkeland, an expert on disaster displacement and climate change at the Norwegian Refugee Council, argues that reopening the UN refugee convention might actually make things worse for the very people the refugee convention aims to protect, due to the nationalism and anti-immigrant sentiments sweeping across the US and Europe.

“We know there’s a lot of suspicion, a lot of negativity around people on the move,” Birkeland said. “So, if you try to negotiate that again, we think this will be kind of a dead-end.”

…wether it be due to increased awareness and empathy, inability to accommodate more refugees in their country, or their fears and skepticism on people from other backgrounds.

However, on December 10th 2018 something significant happened in Morocco, as leaders from 164 countries formally adopted the UN Global Compact for Migration: the first global agreement defining a common approach to climate migration. Although, the definition of a refugee remains untouched, the document identifies climate change as a driver of migration, and in a sense manages to confirm the accountability of the developed countries that force people to migrate elsewhere.

The only problem to this fine solution, however, is that it’s voluntary and non-binding, and has already caused controversy across Europe. Which in oother words translates to a significant uncertainty for the many people it aims to help.

135 000 000
According to estimates from the UN, by 2045, 135 million people may be displaced as a result of desertification, if we continue the same course. And although Birkelands’ points are very valid, and the UN Global Compact for Migration is an essential step forward, the clarification on the terminology seems to be the only thing that will lawfully protect the millions of people who will require this help in coming years. In addition, protecting climate migrants under the right term, will also truly give all developed countries an incentive to re-think and change the extent of their emissions, wether it be due to increased awareness and empathy, inability to accommodate more refugees in their country, or their fears and skepticism on people from other backgrounds.

Read more:

Land and Human Security

Global Report on Internal Displacement

UN compact recognizes climate change as driver of migration for first time
