Beschrijving
Met Polylang volledig geïntegreerd in WordPress en alleen gebruikmakend van de ingebouwde core functies (taxonomieën), houdt je stabiele prestaties op je site en maak je een meertalige site met slechts één extra taal tot 10 of meer, afhankelijk van je behoeften. Er is geen beperking in het aantal toegevoegde talen en de taalpakketten van WordPress worden automatisch gedownload wanneer ze klaar zijn.
Kenmerken
Afhankelijk van het type site dat je hebt gebouwd of van plan bent te bouwen, kan een combinatie van plugins uit de onderstaande lijst interessant zijn.
Alle plugins bevatten een wizard waarmee ze in slechts een paar klikken kunnen worden ingesteld.
Polylang
Polylang en Polylang Pro delen dezelfde core en bieden functies zoals:
- Vertalen van berichten, pagina’s, media, categorieën, bericht tags, aangepaste berichttypen en taxonomieën, RSS feeds; RTL scripts worden ondersteund.
- De taal wordt ingesteld door de taalcode in de URL, of je kunt per taal een ander subdomein of domein gebruiken.
- Automatisch kopiëren van categorieën, bericht tags en andere meta’s bij het maken van een nieuw bericht of pagina vertaling.
- Translating classic menus and classic widgets. Also accessible with Site Editor Classic Features in block themes.
- Aanpasbare taalwisselaar beschikbaar als een klassieke widget of klassiek navigatie menu-item.
- Compatibiliteit met Yoast SEO.
Polylang Pro
Helpt de tijd die wordt besteed aan het vertalen van je site te optimaliseren met een aantal zeer handige extra functies, zoals:

Installatie
- Zorg ervoor dat je WordPress 6.2 of later gebruikt en dat je server PHP 7.2 of later uitvoert (dezelfde vereiste als WordPress zelf).
- Als je andere meertalige plugins hebt geprobeerd, deactiveer ze dan voordat je Polylang activeert, anders kun je onverwachte resultaten krijgen!
- Installeer en activeer de plugin als gebruikelijk vanuit het ‘Plugins’ menu in WordPress.
- De setup wizard wordt automatisch gestart om je te helpen makkelijker aan de slag te gaan met Polylang door de belangrijkste functies te configureren.

Been using this for well over a decade now. Its a well built plugin, that has the functionality needed for a multilanguage site. When I had to rebuild the site, I was looking around for alternatives, but noone comes close.

The plugin itself is good enough until Wordpress finally adds multilang features to core. Echoing what some have mentioned here… note that on the Pro plan, we find that Polylang’s support team are can be relatively poor at technical analysis of bugs and don’t appear to be able to follow your repros at all. Instead they provide less detailed “repro” videos that follow a completely different approach and say it works fine on their end. Really some of the worst technical support I have experienced.

This plugin is not worth installing, it’s missing basic functions – you can’t use it to translate websites built with default theme (or any other FSE theme) and native tools (gutenberg).

I use it on several websites and it’s probably the best on the market, simple setup, I get what I need right away, works great in combination with Loco.
