About the challenge
EduSands is open to global citizens and Middle Eastern students that are in middle, high school, or college! The hackathon is designed for beginner to intermediate programmers. Our theme for this year is social justice and equality. We have two divisions for our hackathon; one for middle school and one for high school/college. All competitors must register on DevPost and fill out the following form to sign up (https://forms.gle/NBHvsQndqGjqZguQA). You must be registered on the form to be considered a competitor for the hackathon (no exceptions).
Prizes
Please note that EduSands Hacks will not be offering cash prizes. We have over $200,000 worth of prizes from our contracts with the event sponsors, which may include services, memberships, products, etc.
Requirements
What to Build
You can build anything! You can submit a prototype, program, or a working web application! The only requirement is that your project has to address some sort of real-world, societal problem!
What to Submit (HIGH SCHOOL/COLLEGE)
- Your project, video, code, and submission materials must be created during the hackathon submission period and must be created for this specific hackathon. Projects that do not meet this criterion may be subject to disqualification.
- Include a video (no more than 3 minutes) that demonstrates your submission. Videos must be uploaded to YouTube and made public.
- Provide a URL to your code repository (if you are using one) Provide access by making it public. This is not required if you are submitting a proposal, idea, or a prototype.
- You must submit the google form to register for the hackathon
- Submit your project on DevPost as you normally would
- The submission category for your project's submission helps the judges understand your thoughts on how your project will score relative to hundreds of other competitors. If you apply for the Top 5 and don't make it, we will be able to consider you for the other categories (ex. Top 100). The category you selected has no influence on the judging decision on your project.
- You MUST register on the Google Form as well! Any competitors not registered through the Google Form cannot have their projects judged or scored, even if they are submitted on DevPost. You must register both on DevPost and the Google Form for your project to be considered and scored.
- MAX TEAM SIZE: 2 INDIVIDUALS
- Usage of ChatGPT to create a project will result in an automatic disqualification and forfeiture of any prizes
