After seeing the “Tabitha” dress in the November/December issue (#139) of Sew Beautiful, I knew I wanted to make it for my four daughters; however, instead of doing the tabs on the front bodice, I decided to do a little machine embroidery. I found just the bow I wanted from Martha Pullen's Vintage Collection Volume 2 . I made four different size dresses - 4, 6, 8, and 12 - and I just resized the bow to make it a little bigger for each dress. My oldest daughter had the idea of sewing the dresses in the colors of their birthstones. So, I made a sapphire dress, a diamond dress, an emerald dress, and a ruby dress. They wore them Christmas morning over their puffy slips and they looked lovely.
