Hello all,
It’s time for a little update, just to let you know what’s going on.
I’m a bit rammed with work, having agreed to help out a bunch of people, or to layout and publish their material. I love doing it – helping people get their ideas out there and focussing more on presentation – but it does take time away from my own projects. As usual, I’ve over-promised when I’ve felt well, and as such am over-obligated when I don’t feel well.
You’d think I’d learn!
My Patreon has rolled over the amount where I’m committed to daily videos again, and I’m going to try to get back into that habit, but directly paying work has to come first and I’m reasonably sure that my patrons want me to produce work, over meeting that commitment.
Next publication is Welcome to St Cloud, by Miguel Ribeiro, who wrote our well-received systemless/AFM Giallo trilogy. This time it’s a Lynchian investigative horror location, drawing on the style and aesthetic of Twin Peaks.
After that it’s *Punk (Splatpunk), which is an Action!/Interlock retroclone, designed to be coupled with sourcebooks like Cyber*, Bio*, Clock* etc for different types of genres in the ‘x-punk’ genre umbrella, and to preserve accessibility to an important ‘heritage’ game system. There’ll be hardcopy available, but the main rules will either be free or PWYW.
Then we have another book by Mr Ribeiro, called Postcards from ZOA, which will draw thematically on Burroughs’ Interzone and other surrealistic sources.
After that, a medieval bestiary by Neil Coates, who wrote ‘A Lapidary of Won’drous Stones‘ for us, and who seems to specialise in making some sort of sense out of medieval nonsense so it can be used in games.
All this time I am still working on Wightchester, and we have about half the baseline art complete already. Hopefully we’ll still be good to go with the Indiegogo fundraiser at some point this summer. Provided I can get the baseline writing complete in time with everything else going on.
All that and I’m still running weekly 5th Edition D&D games as part of Tabletopless, all for a very adult audience on Manyvids and Chaturbate, and monthly Cyberpunk RED games on the same services.
Given my recent loss of some of my disability funding, focussing on the paying work with what effort I can muster takes even greater priority. I hope you’ll forgive me if anything slips down the line, I have another relapse or something else goes pear-shaped. If you want to help out while I try and get these issues sorted out you can sub to my Patreon for as little as $1 a month, for discounts and priority access.

‘Ello lovelies,
I messed up by forgetting to do this update last month, so we’re already off to a fantastic start. However, the reasons to have this email list remain extremely strong, those being that social media is a shit-show where nobody gets to see a damn thing you talk about. Facebook keeps trying to get me to pay to let people see my posts, which strikes me as a little bit of extortion. Anyway, I promise to try and do better, and if it gets to the second of the month and you haven’t seen an update, feel free to nag me.Here’s your update for the last month.
Last month was pretty good for work, I managed to release two products, Satana Station for Machinations of the Space Princess and the restart of my ‘zine ‘Autopsy’.
I will be looking for submissions in the future and will be paying $10 a pop for articles or doodads 500-1500 words. So if anyone’s interested, you might want to get in on that.
I’m also looking to support artists, in particular, who are affected by the Coronavirus. So if you have any friends in need, who have a bit of talent in that regard, send them my way and I’ll see what I can manage.
The virus is, obviously, having a fairly dire effect on many businesses, including mine. I have actually done OK, two releases and a big stock art sale (go to DrivethruRPG, select Postmortem Studios and select ‘Clipart’) along with my various ‘side gigs’ mean I almost made minimum wage last month.
A lot of people are hurting though, and if you can afford to give them your support, please do. Authors, game designers, artists, cosplayers, LARP stores etc are all especially harmed because they have all become so reliant on the convention and event circuit, so spare them a thought.
I’m knocking out a bunch of small projects and blogs at the moment, to maintain a steady release schedule. A lot of people are playing games online or finding themselves with a lot of time on their hands, so providing tools to help people stave off boredom and to give them something to do seems like a good idea.
I have been doing promotional giveaways, but they’ve been hit and miss and now, with the virus, obviously I want to stay away from the Post Office, so I’ll be doing them electronically.
I’ve been ill. With no tests there’s no way to know whether it was The Dreaded Lurgy or not, but I’m starting to feel better. It’s stopped me doing videos and recordings for about a week because of a terrible sore throat and a dry cough.
I live rurally and naturally self isolate anyway, which is a pretty good thing as I’m fairly high risk (bad lungs from childhood asthma). So far the only real impact on me has been a lack of groceries, and my missus being underfoot all day, which isn’t ALL bad.
I was trying to run RPG sessions online to provide something for people to do who are forced out of work or self-isolating at the moment. The uptake was disappointing, but I want to try and keep that going. Watch my social media for updates on when sessions are – it can be fairly short notice. I aim to do them around 7:30-8pm UK start, and keep them to short, convention-style slots of 3-4 hours.
If you have a group or can get together a group of 3-6 people I’m happy to bend that time to meet your demand, and run during the day or late in (my) night. Just get in touch.I also have a Facebook group for people who are interested: https://www.facebook.com/groups/grimstream
Depression seems to have backed off a bit, which is nice. I’ve been doing this ‘gratitude journal’ thing, that was recommended by Kurzgesagt, I’ve found it somewhat useful, but not as much as they suggest. Unlike a lot of this stuff, there’s some actual science behind it. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WPPPFqsECz0
I’ve been playing the ever-loving shit out of Mechwarrior 5 and Xenoblade Chronicles 2, which I wish I could stream, but the Switch is shit for that. Perhaps when I’ve completed it, I’ll play something I can stream from the PS4 again.

‘Ello lovelies,
There’s a lot going on, but sadly not a huge amount of it is game related! I just published my Literary Nonsense fantasy novel ‘Alice through the Garbage Grinder’, which you can purchase at Amazon, Lulu or at my own site Post-Mort.com. A great deal of Brad McDevitt’s stock art is now also available at the site, perfect if you’re an indie publisher or need some images to spice up your handouts or streams.
That’s still the big news really, I have my own site now, launched this year. A censorship-proof digital outlet through which I can sell my own material, and perhaps even pursue some more controversial or ‘adult’ content, without The Man looking over my shoulder all the time. I hope to also be able to provide a safe haven for other controversial writers and game designers, so if you think you fit the bill, get in touch (though I will have to be somewhat selective).

The blog has a comic, which will run for around 30 days total before being made available commercially. A useful guide for explaining to family and friends just what the heck this RPG thing is, and how to get into it.
Actual Fucking Monsters was the other recent big release, and the overall reception has been pretty good. In fact I’ve decided to change the system of one of my next projects, ‘The Green’, to the one used in AFM, where it seems that it will fit a lot better than what I was originally going to use (the system from Kagai!).

I’m doing a lot of non-gaming work, as I noted before, primarily art, design and video work around Rachel Haywire’s presidential campaign, and the re-launch of the dissident tech/media site Trigger Warning. I’m finding this tremendously fulfilling, but don’t worry, I shan’t be turning my back on gaming any time soon! Then there’s computer gaming work, which I still can’t talk about, but it’s there.
Still, keep an eye out because sooner or later there’ll be more apparel, merchandise and more RPG projects, including a companion for AFM, a companion for MotSP and – eventually – The Green.
If you want to find me on social media, my Twitter is @Grimasaur (or @mort_post), my Facebook is james.desborough, and I can also be found at JGDgames, JDwriter and PostmortemStudios.
My Youtube channel is PostmortemVideo.
When it comes to Alt-Tech, you can find me on MeWe, Minds, Gab and Bitchute.

If you want to support me, please – in order of preference – support me at Subscribestar or Patreon.
I have a Discord server too, if you want to hang out.
Take care everyone, have a good one,
Zang!

Much of our stock art catalog is now up at post-mort.com. The art there is available for you to use in your personal and professional projects – subject to the attached license.
If you’re starting your own imprint or want some art to jazz up your websites, games or hand-outs, this will give you a really cost-effective leg-up.

It’s November, and about time for another update, as we Brits look forward to setting shit on fire and blowing things up.
I’m trying to get my PATREON up to over $200 a month. This is primarily to support my work on YOUTUBE, but also supports my blogging and other work. You get access to periodic exclusive content, you can request video topics, you can get discounts on apparel and books.
As for me, my endless wrangles with the Department of Work and Pensions seem to have come to a (positive) end, which takes off a lot of pressure and allows me to take more risks and invest more in my work in order to get out of that situation, as well as to farm out more work to others.
There will be plenty of openings as we move towards the end of the year and into the new year, for writers (Gor and D6 familiarity a bonus) and for artists (send me your links and portfolios!).
The Darkzel Scholarship will be coming up soon, my regular fundraiser to help out young, impoverished or otherwise hard-up artists. So keep an eye out for that. The fundraiser runs for three months and entries are welcome up to a month after. This year we’ll be returning to the format of providing a lump, ‘prize’, sum to one lucky applicant.
Postmortem Studios will have its own, censorship-free site next year for direct sales, insulating me from issues on existing sales sites – provided everything goes well – and I hope to be able to provide a safe haven for other, censored RPG and nerd-media writers there too.
Nanowrimo? Not sure, maybe, if I do it’ll be short stories.
While I have you, remember that my new Twitter accounts are @mort_post and @grimasaur, and given that G+ is going the way of the dodo, a MeWe account too. See you there!
Anyway, fire away with any questions or suggestions and I’ll try to get cracking!

Art by Dmitriy Masaltsev
Hello all!
I’m taking a break from the daily updates on the blog, but there’ll still be plenty over on the Youtube channel (PostmortemVideo).
I continue to work on the next Gor adventure and my next full game, The Green. I have a lot of backed-up stock art to put on sale, which will be coming along soon. I also was hit by the inspiration bug after getting grumpy about the fuss around Vampire 5th Edition so something might happen there too.
I have commissioned writers to produce Gor adventures in the past and to keep things going those opportunities are now open again. These are assigned projects, there’s no room at present for unsolicited adventure ideas. If you know the game system (d6) and world background, reach out and we’ll see what we can figure out. Payment will be around $200 for approximately 6,000 words (around 3c per word).
We have a new T-shirt design up at Teespring – the evolution of gamers – so check that (and our other shirts) out, including the Tales of Gor designs (in caste colours no less!).
If you’re an artist in need of commissions, I’m looking to commission more art to sell as stock art and as testers for future projects. Standard rates available are:
A4 B&W: $100, A4 Colour: $200, A5 B&W $50, A5 Colour $100, A6 B&W $25, A6 Colour $10-15 (though negotiation is more than possible).
If any artists want to work with us as a storefront to sell their own stock art, we have an established presence and reputation that could work for you if you choose to work with us, and plan to have an independent sales-point at some point next year. Hopefully, this will also allow me to host and sell games material that suffers from censorship on other sales points, but this is in the very early stages.
This month I’d like to draw people’s attention to two places they can discuss Postmortem Studios games and other activity. We have a woefully undersubscribed Reddit page, and a Discord server which is pretty chill and suitable for hanging out and talking about things. Do join us there.
Zang!
The art on the left is by Brad McDevitt, who sells a ton of stock art through us. Perfect if you’re starting out making your own games or need something cool for a handout. This art isn’t only for use in RPGs, you can use it in any of your personal or professional projects, subject to the license.
First things first! If you don’t already follow me everywhere, please make sure you do! It’s the only way to ensure you get all our updates and information. You can find me on Youtube, Twitter, Gab, Minds, Instagram, Steemit, Facebook, Bookface, FookBace, GooglePlus and Bitchute. If you’re looking for new social media or blogging support, I can highly recommend Minds and Steemit. It’s well worth setting up a Bitchute account if you have a Youtube account, as it can be set to automagically back up your videos from Youtube and publish them on there. A useful safeguard in this censorious age!
You can support me by buying products at RPGNOW, Lulu.com, Amazon and TheGamecrafter, or go one better and subscribe to support me on Patreon.
MakerSupport has been having some issues of late, but those who follow and support me for $1 a month on Patreon or 1 token a month on Minds.com will get discounts, articles, exclusive access and more.
If you’ve got no money, you can still follow on all these platforms and provide support by upvoting and especially resharing content as algorithms on Facebook and Youtube are choking creators’ exposure.
I also recently added a Teespring store, where you can currently purchase two different T-shirt designs. Check it out! This will be replacing the old Cafepress store, which just can’t compete on quality or exposure.
If you’re a Gor fan, there are now communities for Gor on Facebook, Minds and Googleplus.
I am doing a hell of a lot better, having had my cocktail of brain drugs adjusted. Now, if I could only also get a prescription for Modafinil, I think I might become a Delphi Juicer (RIFTS). This means my output has gone up a lot – as you may have noticed – in terms of blogs, Youtube videos and, behind the scenes, work. I’m slowly getting back into routine and becoming more productive. I’m by no means ‘better’, just more capable. I have a tendency to run myself into the ground with work the moment I’m capable of it, so I’m watching for that.
Youtube and Facebook make raising awareness of product so very difficult it sometimes barely seems worth trying. Recent changes have also led to videos being suppressed on Youtube and followers and subscribers not seeing posts on Facebook, or people leaving Facebook due to privacy concerns. All social media is suffering in this way, save the Alt Tech platforms (like Minds and Gab) which have their own problems since, being free expression havens, their first ‘settlers’ have often been politically or socially unsavoury.
I think we’ve turned a corner on this socially, but the wheels of government and corporatocracy move much slower so it is now Terms of Service and regulation that we now find ourselves battling and when it comes to companies there’s a balance between the rights of the consumer and the rights of the owner that needs to be struck. The public square is in private hands and that presents all sorts of problems for our social and political institutions and our understanding of the right to free speech. The Count Dankula trial is probably the best example of how bad this can get and how important it is.
This is the environment in which I find myself working on more Gor material. Making a rod for my own back I suppose! I don’t intend to self-censor at all. We’ll see how bad things get I guess.
I’m currently working on regular blogs and other content, trying to drive people to subscribe and support on Patreon to help push up a regular income, as well as a fantasy setting for Machinations of the Space Princess (odd, I know) and more Gorean supplements.
I massively appreciate your feedback, even if you don’t like something. So please don’t forget to rate, review, share and if you would like me on a podcast or stream to chat or be interviewed/interrogated, let me know. Questions and suggestions are always welcome any format, any where.
ZANG!
I know, I know, I’m late. It has been a busy and stressful month.
For starters, go check out Clipart Critters, this image is one of many by Brad McDevitt, our main resident stock art provider.
If you want to get a SUPER bargain and a ‘start up package’ for your publishing business we offer a 400 IMAGE BUNDLE for a mere $200.
If you’d like to share a storefront to sell stock art, do get in touch.
ZelArt Scholarship
Speaking of art, we’re still running the Zelart scholarship fund, this year the money is going into making the project sustainable in the future, directly commissioning artists to produce material to sell to support it in the future. We’re still short about $140 of the target so, hey, if everyone reading this could lob in $5 we’d be sorted. Come on, it’s Christmas.
The other things you can do to help, besides sharing the link, if you’re an artist is to donate a piece of art to be sold as stock art to support the project. You’ll get ‘exposure’ (worthless, I know) but you’ll also be helping out a new generation of genre artists.
Stuff
The reason I’m late is that I have, basically, been depressed, fatigued and unproductive for the last few months and reviewing that I have accomplished basically fuck and all in that time is depressing. I have applied for assistance (after ten years of illness) and had my interviews and assessments at the beginning of this month and the end of last month.
That was also exhausting and horrible.
If I get approved that will take away some of the financial pressure and one of the last major ‘background’ stress areas of my life and hopefully allow for a new period of recovery.
I’m trying to think of small things I can do to retain and interest my audience on various platforms, but all I really have the energy and enthusiasm for at the moment is the Youtube channel.
For gaming and story enthusiasts I’m currently running a poll-determined ‘Choose Your Own Adventure’ game there, based on my Machinations of the Space Princess game and universe. So check that out every Friday.
Monthly Discount
Because I’m so late, and because it’s Christmas. Have some free sexbots!
Patreon supporters get more discounted stuff and easy access to me to ask me stuff and to make suggestions.
Now, I appreciate that Patreon’s recent changes regarding charges etc have put people off, so I’m now also on MakerSupport, but cannot – currently – offer anyone using that to support creators anything special. You can also donate to keep my going via Paypal.
At the moment this support should be considered support mostly for my Youtube channel but I’m going to try and ease back into work after Christmas and see how things go.
Next Year
When I’m fit and well again – fingers crossed – or at least well enough to get something done, I plan to primarily get back on the regular Gor releases. After that I hope to crowdfund a major dark-fantasy project at some point in the late spring or early summer. An adventure-filled necropolis and set of alternative rules for 5e D&D.
I’m also considering a company rebrand (new logo and style) so may be looking for people to commission for that.
Otherwise things are too up in the air to predict.
I do want my Youtube channel to better serve my writing and gaming audience, so let me know what you want to see. More book walk-throughs? Streamed gaming sessions? Discussions? Tutorials on indy game publishing and game design? Tips and tricks? Art direction? Player and GM tips?
Let me know.
