Bio

I’ve been working on the web since 2000, with most of that time spent building and maintaining WordPress sites. I’m based in the Research Triangle Region of North Carolina and run Privatenode LLC, where we design, build, and host WordPress websites for small businesses, municipalities, and organizations that care about performance, security, and long-term reliability.

My role usually blends strategy, design, and technical implementation. I focus on making WordPress sites that are practical to manage, scale well over time, and don’t become a maintenance headache. I’m particularly interested in performance optimization, hosting architecture, and thoughtful content structure.

WordPress Origin Story

I got into WordPress the long way around. Early on, I was using Greymatter and later Movable Type for publishing, and eventually migrated those sites as WordPress started to gain traction. I also spent some time with Drupal for more complex projects when WordPress wasn’t quite there yet.

Once WordPress matured, it became the platform that could handle both simple publishing and more structured projects without getting in the way. At that point, everything gradually moved to WordPress, and it’s been my primary platform ever since.
