Tech Like A Pirate - We are all mavericks in the making!
Top reviews from the United States

Recommended for ALL teachers to help students grow!
Reviewed in the United States on July 6, 2020This is my #1 book to recommend to teachers for how to not just use technology in the classroom, but to integrate technology! Matt Miller has always done a phenomenal job of helping educators find ways to make the classroom experience memorable for students. In this book, he shows teachers how to do this with technology.
Educators must realize that our students desire for us to be risk takers. Yes, it’s going to be messy. Yes, it’s going to be hard. However, in the end it will benefit your students beyond ways you can imagine. This is what Matt helps teachers realize in this book. He helps you find ways to be risk takers, and gives you instructions on how to accomplish those memorable lessons.

Inspiring
Reviewed in the United States on July 24, 2020I teach 8th grade Biology and Chemistry. I did not choose this book. I joined a book study that my amazingly enthusiastic principal offered. I am tech savvy so I figured this would be an easy way to earn "extra credit" but was bot expecting to get SO much from this little book.
I was very wrong. This book has been such a great catalyst to push me to be more daring in my use of tech. I love the ideas within and continue to be inspired to come up with and seek even more ideas to try.
I greatly recommend that you give a little time to this book.

Tech Like A Pirate - We are all mavericks in the making!
Reviewed in the United States on May 17, 2020I am a tech-savvy teacher, but I could not wait to read Tech Like A Pirate. In this informative, positive, and innovative book, Matt gives you all of the resources that you will need to push yourself into teaching and tech-ing like a pirate and a maverick. Not only will you have the tools you need after you read this book, but you will have the confidence to take risks and break tradition with technology. Matt even covers his readers with letters of encouragement - for whenever you need them. I recommend all of Matt’s books, but if you are ready to spread your technology wings, this is the book you need to have. And during this global pandemic and remote learning situation we are all in, this book couldn’t be more timely.

Fantastic treasure trove of ideas for teachers!
Reviewed in the United States on May 20, 2020I finished this book in two days! I love that it is practical and includes ideas and strategies you can implement right away. I made notes in the margins, highlighted, and already have a list of units I plan to Tech Like a Pirate this next school year! We can complain about COVID and what the politicians have done in response OR we can do what teachers do and make it happen! From ideas to resources to book recommendations, Matt Miller has done a fabulous job supporting the education community with this book.

Just ok
Reviewed in the United States on July 10, 2020I was disappointed by this book. I thought it would be my summer inspiration after a terrible Spring. Nothing really Earth shattering in this book. Make your class and experience. Ok, that's a good thought. But that wasn't even the author's original thought. I think that book is a waste of money. Sorry. Don't mean to be mean.

Reviewed in Australia on May 15, 2020This book was fantastic - so many takeaways and templates you can use with your students straight away. Great ideas to help you connect with your students and make the learning fun and engaging. Can't wait to use what I have learnt with my special needs students. I love that he also explains that it won't always work - but thats ok - we just use this as data to influence what to do or not to do next time.
