About the challenge

Participate in the 9th installment of Vanderbilt's premier annual hackathon, VandyHacks IX!

Build projects that will serve as a springboard to your career in tech, learn new skills from workshops, meet friends from all around the world in our hacker-focused mini-events, and get your foot in the door by directly connecting with industry sponsors.

Oh and, did we mention we have the coolest swag? Grab a set and see for yourself!

Requirements

You will be submitting your project online via Devpost. All submissions are due by 9:00AM Central Time on Sunday, October 23, 2022. No exceptions allowed.

You will be asked to write a title, write a short description about your project, and include a link to a public GitHub repository.

We do not allow duplicate submissions to other hackathons and will disqualify such projects. We will verify commit history to judge that the project is indeed completed during VandyHacks IX. In order to do so, we will only judge projects with public repositories on GitHub.

If your project is submitted to Devpost before 9:00 am Central Time, you will be notified of a time slot and location at our expo to present your project. Presentations will take place in the Engineering and Science Building starting at either 10:00am or 11:30am Central Time on October 23, 2022. Failure to present your project renders the project ineligible to win prizes. Projects may be selected for a highlight at the closing ceremony in the Langford Auditorium at 1:30pm Central Time.

To be clear, the project you create at VandyHacks is something you can show off to recruiters, family, and friends in the future!

[MLH] Best Use of Appwrite
1 winner

Prize: Fitbit Inspire 2 Tracker

Building a full-stack application can be time consuming, especially if you’re more of a frontend developer or lack experience with things like databases or authentication. At hackathons you want to make every minute count, which is why Appwrite is the missing ingredient to your recipe for a successful hack. With all the core backend functionalities you need already pre built and ready for customization, all you’ll need to do is make an API call to take advantage of an Appwrite database, media storage, user auth, and even custom compute functions. Use Appwrite in your hack this weekend for a chance to take home some Fitbits for you and your team.
