Katarzyna Javaheri-Szpak (born in 1982 in Kraków) is a Polish linguist and iranologist. She graduated from the Department of Oriental Philology—with a specialization in linguistics—at the Jagiellonian University in Kraków, Poland, and furthered her expertise with a second specialization in Quality Assurance in Software Development. She is the co-author, alongside Michael Javaheri, of the Contemporary Persian–Polish Dictionary, the first work of its kind in Polish lexicography. Initially published in 2006 and reissued in 2007, 2008, 2010, and 2016, this dictionary is widely recognized as a milestone in the field of Persian-Polish lexicography. She also contributed as co-author to the Polish Iranistics Bibliography 1807–2014 (with M. Hudzikowski) and the Polish Afghanology Bibliography. Katarzyna has experience as a language teacher, with a focus on modern language teaching methodology. She has taught Persian at Ateneum University in Gdansk and as a part of Personal Development Academic Club at Krakow University of Economics, among other places. Since 2023, Katarzyna has been living in Madeira, Portugal, where she is dedicated to mastering Portuguese and leveraging her extensive linguistic expertise to create valuable resources for learners and foreigners. In 2024–2025, she attended the course Curso de Português Língua Não Materna (Portuguese as a Non-Native Language Course) at the University of Madeira (UMA). In July 2025, she passed the CIPLE exam. In September 2025, she started the B1 Portuguese course again at UMA. Her broader editorial and publication portfolio includes several works on Iranian and Afghan linguistics, such as: EN (ed.)
