Commodore VIC-20 Nostalgia

The VIC-20 was one of the pioneers that kicked off the home microcomputer revolution, so it honestly surprised us that in 2026, 45 years after its release, there still wasn’t a dedicated VIC-20 site with a proper, in-depth games database. No real way to comment, no ratings, no user-driven lists.

Something had to be done before it really was too late. The game files already existed, and projects like RetroCollector and Gamebase20 had done solid work documenting the software itself. But what was missing were the memories: the opinions, experiences, and personal reflections of these early ’80s games. Without those, an important part of early computer history will fade away.

Sure, we know this site arrives late to the party. Lemon64 and Lemon Amiga have been around for decades, gathering tens of thousands of opinions and hundreds of thousands of ratings over 25 years. We’re realistic, Lemon20 will never reach those numbers. The VIC-20 was always a more exotic machine, with a much smaller user base than, say, the C64.

But that doesn’t mean it isn’t worth doing.
