Engineering that scales.

Senior engineers for product companies that are hitting their limits. Our expertise is in real-time, fault-tolerant and distributed systems.

A contour map where height is load. Traffic paths converge on one node and a bottleneck peak rises to 960; capacity is added and the peak is regraded into a plateau at 492. Spot heights on the map: 232, 175, 195.

Teams call us at three moments.

Every path starts the same way: a fixed-price Architecture Review, two to four weeks, with a ranked roadmap at the end.

Scale Traffic is about to outgrow the system.

One peak, regraded into seven even hills: the map changes from one hotspot to seven even nodes.

Scale what you have.

Load-test the real paths, find the actual bottleneck, and fix it before launch day. No rewrite.

  • BEAM and database tuning
  • Capacity planning

Re-architect Every new feature fights the current architecture.

Flow re-routed through a new valley: the map changes from old course to new valley.

Re-architect without a freeze.

Move to the shape you need in stages, while your team keeps shipping.

Rescue Production is on fire, or a funded build has stalled.

Broken ground, settled into terraces: the map changes from unstable to terraced, stable.

Stabilize, then accelerate.

Senior hands in the codebase within days and a written recovery plan within two weeks.

Work Spotlight.

Sandboxing untrusted game code at scale.

Challenge. Breshna lets anyone build video games without writing code. As the platform gained traction, its prototype ran into serious performance and security problems.

What we did. We traced the bottlenecks, then rewrote the parts of the system that needed to scale in Elixir, with Mnesia keeping shared cluster state fast and reliable. We also gave each creator’s code its own sandbox, so a broken or malicious game can’t affect anyone else’s.

Result. Performance improved 4.7x, and the platform met every safety goal Breshna’s team had set.

Startup

Building an open ecosystem.

We put back into the tools our clients run on: our own libraries, sponsorship, and fixes upstream.

We’re the authors of Que, Memento, ExUtils, YAML, Catalyst, and more.

Our team has also contributed to Elixir, Ecto, Phoenix, Oban, Ash Framework, LiveCharts, pgvector, and many more open-source libraries.

How we engage

How we work.

  1. Identify

Your goals come first. Then we diagnose the issues and pin down the bottlenecks, following a simple philosophy: measure twice, cut once.

  2. Fix

Together we plan the rescue or architecture change before executing it. Every decision is backed by data and recorded as an ADR.

  3. Harden

Profiling and testing show what still needs strengthening. We then establish strong guardrails: rules, checks, tests, docs and tooling, so the system ends up on a solid foundation.

  4. Iterate

Fixing one limit usually exposes the next. We move on to it, or help you take over once the system is stable.

The Sruplex mark rising out of the terrain as a landform.

Every system has a limit.

We can help you scale beyond yours.
