    For nearly 40 years the U-M Economic Growth Institute has addressed economic emergencies in times of crisis, supporting companies and communities. The institute began work with the Downriver Community Conference in 2021 to help with strategic planning around the grant application to the Economic Development Administration.

  • Michigan startup reimagines clothing labels

    Barcodes woven into fabrics could make clothing and other textiles more recyclable and harder to counterfeit by identifying where and how goods are made, as well as what they are made of. Fibarcode, a U-M startup, will develop this technology for commercial use.

  • Kent Syverud named 16th president

    With a unanimous vote of the Board of Regents, Kent Syverud was appointed the 16th president of the University of Michigan. The vote took place during a special meeting of the board in University Hall.
