Ouch!

This new walking thing is leading to lots of new bumps & bruises. Today Mason and I were in his room and I was picking out clothes for him when he stumbled, fell, and hit the space heater. He instantly started crying and when I looked over I could already see the cut under his eye and the swelling starting. I scooped him up and ran to the kitchen to put some ice on it. He only let me hold ice on it for a minute or two, but I figured it was better than nothing. For the next half hour I kept a close eye on him and although he continued to play, every once in awhile he would stop, touch his eye, and fuss a little. I figured it must be sore so I gave him some Motrin. Within a half hour after that he grabbed his blanket, came and sat on my lap and laid his head down like he was ready for his nap, so that's what we did. Poor little guy has had a rough day.
This is a picture within minutes after it happened.
Image
This one was maybe an hour afterwords and you can see the bruise starting under his eye.

My poor boy, I hate seeing him get hurt and it kills me to think that this is probably just the first of many many more owies to come :(

Random Videos

As you can tell we've used the video camera more recently and here are just a few random videos that we took of Mason today.

This is dad's idea of fun when mom isn't around...

Remember those pictures a couple months ago featuring our "angry baby"? Well this is video of one of one of those moments when he is less than happy.

And then here he is walking down the hall happy again!

First Steps

Mason officially took his first steps this morning! We've seen him take a step or two on his own trying to reach for something or transfer from one object to another, but this morning he purposely took 3 or 4 steps going from Steven to me. I didn't think he was really going to do it so I didn't have the camera ready. However, I did get him to do it again a little later & was able to capture a whole 6 seconds of him walking on camera. I just can't believe our baby is already big enough to walk!

Who's That?

These pictures were actually taken the same day as his 10 month pictures with the monkey, but obviously I didn't post them then.
He loves to look at himself in the mirror.

Tub Time

Mason can be so funny in the tub. His latest thing is to bend over and put his face in the bubbles, and he comes up with them all over his face. Such a goof. ImageImage He's also been pulling this funny face (pictured below) a lot lately. Image Washing off his ducky... Image

Under the Table

These two like to keep my feet company while I eat breakfast in the morning. Image Image Image They really are becoming better friends, or should I say Mason is just more interested in him & Rosco is just tolerant of him.

Oops!

The other day Steven was stepping over the baby gate when his foot hit the top causing him to lose his balance and fall shoulder first into the wall. This was the result..... Image
He ran to Lowe's right away and started patching up the hole that night which provided good entertainment for these two boys... Image
They both just sat & watched Steven work away. Image
Poor Steven did not expect to be spending his night like this! Image I tell you what though I am super happy that I married a man who has handyman skills and can make repairs like this when needed. Thanks Steven for getting it fixed up so quickly!

Teeth

I finally got a picture of Mason's two little front teeth! Of course it had to be while he was trapped in his high chair with food pieces all over his cheeks.... Image Image Image

10 Months!!

I can hardly believe that Mason is 10 months old, which means he only has 2 more months till his 1st birthday!! What is that about?! Size Weight: 22 lbs Wearing size 12 month clothes, and a few 18 month things Still wearing size 4 diapers
Image Eating He has become a BIG eater! He's eating 3 meals a day which consists of a jar of baby food (stage 2 size) and some kind of finger food + he nurses or takes 3-4 oz of milk from a bottle 3 times a day. He also takes an 8 oz bottle around 8 pm right before he goes to bed. In between meals or whenever he sees us eating something, he constantly begs/whines for a bite, and he usually gets it. Although it seems like he could eat non-stop he does swat our hand away with his if he doesn't want anymore, or he'll push his bottle away. I don't think there has really been anything that he's tried that he hasn't liked, but he definitely prefers finger foods that he can pick up & eat versus his baby food. He also loves fruit puffs & mum-mum's.
Image
Sleeping I don't want to jinx it, but he has been sleeping anywhere from 10.5-12 hours at night straight through lately. He's almost always in bed by 8:15 and the last couple mornings has gotten up between 7:25-8:00. Needless to say we are loving it. I'm sure it will only last until he starts to cut another tooth or something, but for now we are enjoying it. Also, lately in the mornings he hasn't woken up fussy or crying, he just stands up and shakes the rails of his crib until we go get him. His naps have also changed in the last week or two. He now takes a morning nap that lasts 1.5 -2 hrs usually going down around 9:30 or 10. Then he takes a 1-1.5 hr nap in the afternoon. He used to take another nap in the evening, but we have done away with that.
Another thing I wanted to make sure and write down is what he does when getting put down. As we walk into his bedroom I give him his binky and turn on his music, while I do this he immediately lays his head down on my shoulder, because he knows it's time for bed. It's the cutest, sweetest thing ever! Then I lay him down on his back, give him his blankets and he usually grabs his blue one and rubs it on his cheek. I love it, and wish I could get it on camera, but I know he would never go for that. Image Playing Well this last month Mason has become a HUGE busy body. He's always been a busy boy, but now he is crawling full speed ahead & walking around furniture & with his little walker like crazy. He's also started climbing! I love watching him grow & learn, but I find myself missing those days of being able to just lay him on a blanket & knowing he won't be able to move far. As seen in previous posts he loves to get in the dishwasher, drawers, cupboards, the fridge, the pantry, the garage, and pretty much anywhere else he isn't supposed to. He loves to be thrown in the air, tipped upside down, ride on daddy's shoulders, be chased around the house, and knock things over or off of something. Also, I don't think I've ever mentioned it before, but when he's nursing or taking his bottle he has to have a toy or something to play with in his hand or he won't eat. I told you he was busy! I think he gets this from his dad, who is constantly fidgeting. He's done this for a long time, I've just failed to write it down before. Image Bathing We used to love bath time, but now all Mason wants to do is stand up in the tub so it's not so fun anymore. It doesn't matter how many toys he has to play with he always wants to play with the faucet! He also used to like to shower with daddy, but recently we've done that a couple times and he's hated it! That's our boy at 10 months, he really is growing up way to fast!

TGI Fridays

Tonight we had dinner at TGI Fridays for the opening night of Angels in America. This was only the second time Mason has sat in a highchair at a restaurant, but unlike the first time, this time he loved it. He loved being up in all the action, and where all the food was! Our friends also got him dancing to the music and pumping his fist in the air to the music. It was hilarious and such a great night out with friends, it was to bad I had to leave early to go to work. Lights Out!

Well as we expected we lost our power last night just after midnight and when we woke up this morning our house was dark and a FREEZING 56 degrees!! So we piled on extra layers of clothing & hats in an effort to keep warm. Poor Mason had so many clothes on that he looked like the Michelin man & was having a hard time getting around.
ImageImage Since we were freezing in the house we thought we'd venture out to the stores in an effort to get warm, but after hitting Lowe's and coming up empty after looking for a propane heater we decided to head back home. The wind was so cold and I was having a hard time walking & carrying Mason in his car seat with all the ice on the ground. So we got home, cuddled up in some blankets and had some snacks on the floor. ImageImage Our power finally kicked back on around 3 pm and we were able to shed our layers. We had been told our power would be out for a couple days, so we are super grateful to have it back on. It's times like these when you realize how much you take everyday conveniences like electricity for granted. Again, we're so grateful to have our power back & now we're just praying it stays on!

Ice Storm

We are in the midst of our first ice storm here in Indiana, luckily though we haven't been hit super hard unlike the northern part of the state. This is what my car & our yard looked like this morning.... ImageImageImageImageImage In other news we were supposed to be putting our house up for sale today, but due to the storm and our realtor needing to do a few last minute preparations for everything to be ready it probably won't be listed for another day or so. I have a lot of mixed feelings about this whole process. I'm anxious and nervous due to the fact that we don't really know where we will be moving too, or when we will be moving. Steven has applied for I think somewhere between 8-10 jobs, has had one phone interview, and one "no" so far. They range from Wyoming, to Maryland so really we could end up anywhere. So as if all of these unknowns weren't enough to make me crazy we are throwing in trying to sell our house into the mix. The looming stress & uncertainty of house showings, the current market & "what-if's" are about to make me lose it. Obviously we really want/need our house to sell because we don't want to have to try and manage it from another state. However, on the other hand we kind of don't want it to sell to fast because then we'd have to move into an apartment for a couple months to finish out the school year & then have to move again which would be no fun! I'm already not looking forward to moving, let alone moving twice! I'm trying hard not to focus on all the possibilities and instead trying to just place my faith in the Lord and trust that everything will end up working out how it's supposed to. I have a strong testimony that we were inspired & meant to come to Indiana & live where we do. So I'm trusting that the Lord will guide us in making our next decision and take us where we need to be. Wish us luck!
