The time is quickly approaching. Is everybody ready? I think we just about are. Tomorrow is the prep day, cleaning, laundry and last minute baking. There are 2 more activities on the advent calendar, everything is wrapped and I hopefully made my last trip to Wal-Hell until after the chaos. Snow has fallen (and fallen and fallen) and Santa is making his last minute touches. We are in the final stretch.
Tomorrow night signifies my favorite part of the Holiday. Every year, since I was little, my family has a tradition of meeting together, eating yummy food and reading the birth of Christ from the Bible. It has started with my family of four to now adding spouses, grandchildren, aunts and Great-Grandmas. The kids perform skits, songs, etc. and it is such a sense of family. I love it.
Christmas morning we are hosting breakfast and I am playing around with table ideas. I considered using my new jars but with the chaos of our children I see nothing but broken glass so I am trying to play around with some things my momma has.
I hope everybody has a great Holiday, gets everything they want and are able to spend quality time with their families. Happy Holidays!

Our advent activity for the day was to build a snowman. Only K3 was on board for this one:

The snow was too powdery so we had a hard time getting the sucker to form therefore that is why he is on the “short” side.

K3 was begging me to hurry up and take the picture because he needed to eat the carrot. I suggested he could have a new one from the fridge but nope, only the nose would do:

This morning we woke up to our poor little snowman covered in snow. 😦

Even though I haven’t officially signed up with any virtual tour I wanted to share some of my Holiday decorations:
First, start off with our tree. This is not a good picture but honestly this tree does not photograph well. My DH is big on “cutting our own” which requires the whole family traipsing off into the hills and after years of crying, fighting and throwing fits and not winning I have decided to suck it up and take the tree that will work. It’s made it a much better experience for us all. Our tree is full of ornaments made by the children, ornaments given by G-ma and ornaments made by our Angel Grandma and now her husband:

Next on the stop is the nativity set that was made by my Great Aunt back when I was a little girl. My mom passed it down to me because it was one of those things I have always loved:

Here’s my mantel with all my goodies:

Here’s my new apothecary jar and some other fun things I bought this year at Robert’s 50% off sale:

In the background is the stocking K1 made in 1st grade. Further on down the wall are ones made by K2 & K3.
To finish up- down the hall we have our cute little penguin to light the way and keep the monsters away. Isn’t he cute?

Tomorrow kitchen, family room and K2 & K3’s little trees.

Boy life has been busy around here! We are in the full-swing of the Holidays, doing lots of Holiday oriented activities, including baking and decorating cookies:

Taking care of broken Great-Grandmas:

And shoveling lots and lots of snow. And I must not forget the splits I did this morning on my way to take the kids to school. Quite impressive for an almost 40 year old who has never done splits before. Luckily the traffic is non-existent at 7:10 in the morning.
Things I am not keeping up on during the whirlwind of activities:
My roots
Cleaning
Laundary
Sleep
5k a$& challenge
Just one more week of school, I wish there was only one more week of work but luckily I have a boss who is allowing me to work from home 3 days a week during the Christmas Break.
I have decided to make the switch over to blogger so I am going to start making simultaneous posts. Hope to see you there!

I am debating on making the change back to Blogger. I used to be there, but I wasn’t happy with my ability to show pictures. I think that has changed. My main reason for changing has to do with all the pretty Blogger templates. WordPress does not have a lot and every time I see cute ones-it’s blogger. I also hate how WordPress won’t show the widgets I want. So give me your comments. I want to know the pluses and minuses of Blogger/blogspot. And if you have changed to anything, please let me know if it was a big pain.

My heart is full and I want to share. Some back history-when we first moved into our current home I decided to go back to church after 17 years of being inactive. My children had been going to church with G-ma & G-pa, the same Ward their whole lives. It was a very hard change, people were just not friendly and my kids, K1 especially, struggled with the change. K1 had leaders that weren’t really great until someone new moved in. Brother A did so much for K1, he tried where no one else had and it was horrible when K1 had to move up to a new class and new leader.  Fast forward a couple of months, K1 was informed that Brother A’s cancer had come back.   The cancer is in his bones and rapidly spreading.
My son is a typical teenager. He seldoms looks outside himself. He is not a bad kid, just a kid. But he decided to do the 12 days of Christmas to Brother A and his family. And every night he goes, with the help of his G-Ma, and secretly delivers these gifts to this family. I am so proud of him, my heart is full. I saw Brother A yesterday for the first time in a couple of months and I know he does not have much time left on this Earth. And my heart hurts so bad for his family, but also for my son. I am so glad for the opportunity and chance for growth that K1 has gotten from his association with Brother A. I am also glad for the reminder of what this Season is all really about.

Yesterday I made a quick trip down to Sunnyville to see my doctor. After 3 years my pain medication is not working. Imagine that. Neither is my life, the surgery that was supposed to make a difference didn’t make a big enough one to continue paying for it 2 or 3 times a year. My next options include injection by epidural and botox. Somehow, at close to 40 years of age, shouldn’t any botox be in the front part, not my neck? Right now it is not financially feasible (at close to $1000 a pop, HELLO!) so we are adjusting my pain meds. Downside? Apparently the new stuff gives me raging headaches, not a typical reaction. I am not very pleasant today.
We have started the holiday decorating. My house looks like a disaster area and I really have no desire to do anything about it. I just want to lay down and sleep. Last year I took pictures of our outside decorations with K3 and decided this year it would be a good way to document his growth. The pictures verified what I had already known. The kid has grown a lot!
2007 he is up to the penguin’s nose:

2008 he is as tall as the penguin!

And just because he is so cute and standing next to my favorite Disney character:

As to my KitchenAid-no, I did not get the pink one. It wasn’t offered but Saucy also made a good point that it might not be something that I would always want and those suckers are not easy to lug around. So white it is. And the inner child in me is delighted because it is the biggest present under the tree (or will be when I put them under). Woohoo!

Dear Fellow Black Friday Shoppers:
I am aware that the economy is kind of sketchy, money is short and the one and only “store” that offers such shopping in our town was offering kick-a$$ deals but this does not mean that manners, rules and even common decency are allowed to be shoved to the side. Nothing is worth that.
Dear Lady behind us with the shopping cart who tried to cut in front of us in line:
You probably noticed that we did not have a cart. That is because I came with my DH and he did not think it was necessary to show up at 4 a.m. (ha-ha we showed him) thus we missed out on the carts. But that does not mean we had any less right to be in line and to attempt to do this to us together, I scoff at your attempt. Lady, we spent 13 weeks in the NICU and that made us a team that few can reckon with.
Dear ladies in line next to us that decided they had spent too much money:
Employees at Wal-Hell are not paid a whole lot. Definitely not enough to clean your mess because you didn’t think while you were pushing others over to grab things to put in your cart. That was just plain rude to place all your discards off to the side. Especially because some things were sold out in their designated space and maybe some little boy or girl really needed that item to make their Christmas complete. Shame on you.
Dear CSM:
Thanks for giving me that KitchenAid for the price in the flyer and not the price it scanned in at. That was hella cool.
Today:
Cleaning and decorating. I am so excited! When I asked K1 & K3 if they were they both said NO! I miss my daughter. 😦 She stayed in Vegas with Grandma until Sunday.
To Come:
The story of our Thanksgiving. And probably the story of our tree cutting excursion.

It seems that dear Saucy has started a bit of a trend. I’ve decided to to join in on the fun and share with you my Christmas wish list. I am including the reasonable and the unreasonable-
First off, the one that I will be getting, whether it is from DH or my momma. Black Friday deals are making it an attainable gift this year:

I would prefer pink but white or silver will do.
I need some good mixing bowls. Untill I became a Martha fan I didn’t realize that my plastic ones were not acceptable:
Because my roommates are all really bad about breaking dishes and/or losing them, I need a good set of bowls. Corelle preferably, to match the remaining ones I have:

Notice there seems to be a trend-if I have better equipment I might cook/bake more.
I do need some new perfume:

And new clothes are always nice. I also would love to have this little program, I can imagine hours of fun:

A trip to the spa would be relaxing

So would any trip away with DH. I love gift cards to any place in town (or online) and a gift card to Starbucks is the gift that keeps on giving. Am I getting too greedy yet? I could go on but I won’t .
