Site-seeing

My parents were supposed to visit us this weekend. Their flight got delayed because of snow in Denver (where their plane was coming from) and they would have arrived a day later than planned. Not to mention hurricane Sandy (frankenstorm) a'blowing in the Northeast, so they decided not to risk it and stayed in Nebraska. A good decision because all flights are cancelled & something nasties brewing outside, but really I was/am so bummed. Since we had decided on site-seeing this weekend earlier, we headed up north to Newburyport, MA and went to the state park there, then on our way home stopped over in Gloucester and had a delicious lunch and walked around main street to all the little shops. The colors are changing and it's just gorgeous around these parts.

Right now we're hunkering down for SANDY, our friendly hurricane here. My school was cancelled today (and I'm seriously hoping for no school tomorrow too) and Scott's work was cancelled also. We're just eating halloween candy and watching shows. Life is good!

Dad & Judy in Town

You guys! I know.. I haven't blogged in a month. Things have been non-stop and so busy around here with studying, tests, work, church, and yes, family in town! Scott's dad and Judy came to Boston last week and stayed almost a week. It was so much fun!

visiting Harvard campus. You know that scene in legally blonde when Elle Woods is sitting in a lawn chair in her bikini "studying" drinking a margarita while the boys are playing football and she's all "HI!!" *waves* I'm pretty sure this is where they shot that scene and I couldn't get over it.

On Saturday, we took a trip up to Kennebunkport, Maine. I think I fell in love with Maine, it was gorgeous!!! I want to go back immediately.

Three Years

Wednesday we celebrated our 3 year anniversary. I feel like we've been married 2 seconds and 20 years all at the same time. I can't hardly imagine or remember my life without Scott in it. He completes me in every sense of the word. I can't help but fall in love with him more and more every day. He's the best thing that's ever happened to me.

For dinner, we went to the north end and indulged in some FINE italian food. We'd heard Giocamo's was good and boy were the reviews right! I got butternut squash ravioli with asparagus, Scott ordered lobster ravioli and we ordered fried calamari to share (so fancy, I know)! It was a mellow night with perfect weather, perfect food, and the most perfect company.

of course we got cannoli's on our way home.
10 things I love about Scott:

1. He pretends to not be able to open jars and then says "I can't get it!" and let's me feel strong
2. He does yoga. It's the cutest.
3. He loves to snuggle me, and I him.
4. When it's really actually my turn to get out of bed &heat up the apple crisp but we play rock paper scissors &he loses and goes anyway
5. That I get home from a long day of school and he puts me in pajamas and gives me a foot rub
6. The way he looks in an apron
7. How he brings me food while I'm working to "keep me interested in dinner"
8. When I really should have made dinner already but he comes home and says he's excited to make us a meal
9.His little boyish happy face when he gets excited. His nose scrunches up, you can hardly see his eyes, &his hands go into pinching formation
10. He is the most kind-hearted, sweetest, most caring, and loving man I've ever known. He is my soul mate, my other half, and my best friend forever.

Canning

Last week, before school started, I made a big batch of homemade enchilada sauce (which I've never made but found the canning-safe recipe here and am hoping it's yummy!) and canned to my hearts content. I also canned 3 quarts of out homegrown tomatoes!! It's satisfying looking at them & knowing we grew the ingredients with our very own hearts & hands and knowing the labor of love it was. So introducing my first canning efforts:

Go Red Sox!

Last Thursday, we went to our first ever Boston Red Sox game!! It was actually a lot of fun-it was the Red Sox against the Los Angeles Angels. We went with our friends, Carolyn and Parker, indulged on food inside the stadium (expensive much?), and by the end we got to move up right next to the bullpin (bull pen? bull pin? I don't know. It's where the pitcher's warmup). That was most definitely the place to be; doing the wave, singing Sweet Caroline and cheering with the die-hard fans. I loved it! The first 7 or 8 innings, we were literally 2 rows from the back, right beneath the Fenway Sign. Nice and breezy and right behind the big screen so we couldn't see replays or anything but I mean, I wasn't complaining! I had all the legroom I wanted! We really should have won, but thanks to a bad call, the game lasted 10 innings and we didn't get home till 1 am. All in all, it was a fantastic night filled with friends, home runs, hotdogs, and angels in the outfield.
