Christmas Day 2010

We had such a great Christmas this year.  The boys are at such fun ages for Christmas!  My parents and my brother Garrett and my brother Austin and his wife Maegan were all her for Christmas this year.  It was really great to have so much family here to share it with us!

That afternoon, we made a gingerbread house.  It had a few problem, as you can see from the picture.  Landen got sick of holding the roof on, so it collapsed.  But, I rescued it.

Then, we had a really nice dinner- smoked turkey, twice backed potatoes, homemade rolls, pretzel jello salad, and broccoli, with pumpkin and pecan pie for dessert.  After dinner, we all relaxed by watching Polar Express together.  It was a wonderful Christmas!

ICE SKATING AT THE GALLERIA

Landen skating.  He actually did really well (these pictures don't really show it, but he did.)  By the end, he was skating on his own.

 Nathan attempting it.

Both boys loved ice skating.  They could have gone for a lot longer, but all the adults were worn out and their feet were killing them, so we had to make them stop.

This is how Carter ended up.  Watching all of us struggle to stay upright on skates really wore him out!

After we got back from the Galleria, we had dinner (soup and salad bar).  Then, we let the boys open their Christmas PJ's from Nana and Grandpa Matt and they got to open their Christmas book and each pick one present from under the tree.  Then, we acted out the nativity.  This is the first time we've done this with my family.  They were good sports about it.  I didn't get any pictures of it, because we video taped it.  Austin and Maegan were Joseph and Mary.  Carter was baby Jesus.  Landen and Nathan were shepherds and then Wise men, along with Garrett, and my mom was the Angel.  After our performance acting out the nativity, we read our Christmas book and T'was the Night Before Christmas, then the boys were off to bed.  It was a really great Christmas Eve!

Landen's 1st Grade Winter Party

This year, I am a room mom for Landen's class again.  We had a really fun "winter" party.  The kids got to decorate sugar cookies, make a little snowflake ornament craft and have yummy food.  It turned out great and best of all the kids loved it!

Richardson Santa Village

For the past three years, we have gone to the City of Richardson's Santa Village.  It has all these mini houses set up that are all decorated with lights.  In each house, there is an activity for the kids to do.  It is really cute and the boys love it!

Image
This year, it was just me and Landen and Nate that went.  Carter and Phil weren't feeling very good.  The boys were so excited to be on their "mommy date."

Landen's 7th Birthday

Image
This year for Landen's birthday, we had a family party.  We woke him up and opened his presents. Then, Phil made him his favorite breakfast before school.
Image

After school, Landen invited his friend Allison to come with us for some fun at Chuck E Cheese.
Image

Then, after Chuck E Cheese, Landen chose Cici's for dinner and then we went home for cake and ice cream.  It was a fun (easy) birthday!

Thanksgiving 2010

This year for Thanksgiving, we went down to Houston and spent it at my Uncle Brad and Aunt Maryann's house.  My parents and Garrett were there, as well as, Leah and her family, Summer and Ben and their boys, Eric and Katie and their kids, and Curt.  It was a lot of fun to all be together- all the Texas Gillis'!

Brad and Maryann have a pool in their backyard and the weather was beautiful on Wednesday and Thursday, so the kids spent most of those days in the pool.  They had a blast with all their cousins!

On Friday, we went and saw Tangled.  It was a really cute movie!

On Saturday, we went to one of Maryann's good friend's house.  She has a beautiful house on a lot of land and has a few farm animals.  The kids had a great time running around and exploring.  They got to feed the cows, pet the pig, search for Emu eggs and go on the paddle boat.  It was a great day!

Thanks Leah and Mike for taking our boys on the paddle boats because their slacker parents didn't.
