We finally did it! Remodeled our bathrooms. The nice part is also getting rid of clutter and stuff that I had in the drawers for years.

Sooo Nice and New and Clean!

Backyard fence......once the fence was down, we were surprised at how close our houses were to each other, we now know the back neighbors well.

This is the back fence when it looked nice,I couldn't find an updated picture, but it was pretty overgrown and you coudn't see any of the birdhouses. Now GONE! Standing in the walkway from the back gate. Notice how young Katie, Ian, and Jason are, it was 2004.

Our front yard is finished!

ImageHere is the new planter between our house and the neighbors, the bark mix under the palm trees is from our trimmed apple tree. We put the shredder to good use! The bottom three pictures give you an idea of what the finished yard looks like. We especially like the fact that the steps are all gone! Now I am looking forward to some of my flowers growing so you can see some color.ImageImage

There are many flags in many lands, there are flags of every hue; but there is no flag, however grand, like our own Red, White, and Blue

I am thankful for the men and women who have given the ultimate sacrifice, their own lives, so the rest of us can live in this free country.

Grandma's scoreboard Boys 7 Girls 5

Thanks to my daughters for getting together and taking a picture of all the kids, as you can see, trying to get everyone to look in the same direction isn't easy. But this is the latest update of the bunch. Ages 15 down to 9 months.

Wow! I haven't been on my blog in forever.............I do need to update. The past few months I have had family visiting and lots of opportunites for pictures, but haven't done it. I have no excuse.........no wait, I do have an excuse,(not a good one.)It is called Facebook. Can you believe it,something else my kids have gotten me involved in. Even worse, I am now playing Mafia Wars, thanks to Grandkids, my Grandson and Son in law, needed more mafia members, so I got recruited, now I'm hooked. I only do it so I can send energy packets to help them in their fight!!!! Right!

Sixth Challenge

I was given the Sixth Challenge by Kristine

The Sixth Challenge is this:

1. Go to your photo folder
2. Go to the 6th folder of photos
3. Go to the 6th picture
4. Put the picture on your blog and a description.
5. Invite six friends to join the challenge.

And here is the picture, it was taken in the summer of 2006, while I was visiting in Washington, we were at Super Jump Party Zone, Kristine and Justin had just opened up the business. We had the place to ourselves and Lisa, Cheryl, and Ellie were racing through the obstacle course. This picture is at the very end of their race, I think they had done it a couple of times and as you can see they were laughing the whole time, Ellie was up and ready to do it again.

Changes a Coming

Yes, I changed my blog background again. I like this palm tree scene. Goes with my blog name. Now, that I have been on facebook, I haven't been doing much with my blog. But I think everyone has taken a break from their blogs. I don't have a whole lot of interesting things to put on it. But...........
I am looking into getting a new bedroom set for my guest room. What do you think?
There is a full size mattres on the bottom, twin on top, and twin trundle under. Lots of room for grandkids.
Image
We also got new carpet in the bedrooms and are painting the walls. Having company visit has motivated me to get ready. My sister Sue and her daughter Leah and family will be here next month. Plus Kristine and Lisa and their families are visiting later so I am looking forward to all the company.

I have also been working in my yard, since we have had such nice weather. I have started my own composting with a bin and lid. Dad is still doing his thing with his big pile of stuff. But I am adding all vegetable and table scraps to mine. I am also getting a worm bin to use their castings, which is a natural fertilizer. So my new pets will be worms. Cheryl will be so proud!
Plus it is time to start planting a garden. I usually just do tomatoes and cucumbers. But will try some other things this year.

Happy Valentine's Day

Image

and...... Happy Birthday Katie
My grand-daughter Katie will be 6 years old the day after Valentines, I keep this picture of her as part of my Valentine's decorations. She is our little Cupid!

Hope you all have a Happy valentine's Day! I am spending it with My Valentine! Since it is such a buzy night to go out to dinner, I like to stay home and fix a special candle light dinner for two.
Dinner will start off with a Shrimp Cocktail, Citrus Salad, main course will be Filet Mignon topped with Scallops, Parmesan Mashed Potatoes, and hot homemade Biscuits.(his favorite)
For dessert a Molten Lava Cake called "Chocolate Indulgence" with fresh raspberries.

If you are interested.... I will have the salad, biscuit and cake recipe on my food blog.

A fun day at Knott's Berry Farm

Image
Julie and kids and I spent the day at Knott's Berry Farm, it was great because there were no crowds. We had fun on the rides and watching little Sophie explore everthing, she loved keeping up with Abby and her brothers. The girls loved Camp Snoopy and the boys the more adventures rides, but they were good sports in taking their little sisters on a lot of the rides. Before leaving we ate at the Mrs. Knott's Chicken Restaurant. One of my favorite places because it brings back a lot of memories, especially because we would take Jule when she was Sophie's age.
