After the Supervisory Board meeting of the KBB on the future of the Berlinale, we welcome the Board’s confirmation of the importance of the independence of our work. We share their conviction that the festival is on the right path and that it can continue to grow and improve under Tricia Tuttle’s leadership. We have also received recommendations rather than conditions related to Tuttle's continued employment. Their consideration and any implementation now rests with the Berlinale, guided by our ambition to make the festival more visibly committed than ever to the vitality of cinema, to a diversity of voices from all filmmakers, and to the protection of their artistic expression.
During the festival the large-format Berlinale Star Portraits adorn the walls of the Berlinale Palast. There they are signed by the stars before their gala premieres.
With a notable five percent increase in participants, the European Film Market 2026 once again secured its position as a driving force for the global film industry at the beginning of the year.
