Antes de mais temos de agradecer às mais de 200 pessoas que apareceram na ZDB há 8 dias e fizeram do concerto de Fucked Up e Mr. Miyagi uma festa!

Obrigado ao Victor pelo som que estava excelente e obrigado também à ZDB e em especial à Infected e à Fünf. Isto não podia ter acontecido sem vocês, além de que teve um sabor especial o trabalho de equipa com amigos de ha muitos anos que vivem e sentem isto da mesma forma que nós…

Com a ajuda dos nossos bons amigos da Fünf e da Infected o concerto de Fucked Up em Lisboa dia 18 que iria acontecer como primeira parte do concerto de Arcade Fire no Atlântico (que acabou por ser cancelado) vai acontecer na mesma! É na ZDB e vai custar €8!!

Possivelmente vai haver bilhetes à venda antecipadamente nalgumas lojas de Lisboa, mas até lá, quem estiver interessado pode utilizar os seguintes contactos para efectuar reserva:

Por tanta gente se ter dado ao trabalho de ter ido até tão longe e por ter feito uma festa mesmo memorável, por ter criado um convívio como o que se viu! É mesmo bom ver sorrisos como os que se viam ali às 3 da manhã.

O nosso amigo Ema da Juicy Records gravou um vídeo do caminho desde o Jumbo de Setúbal até à Kylakancra. Não há maneira de se enganarem no caminho!

Apanhem a A2 até à saída para Setúbal. Essa saída vai ter a um cruzamento em que ficam com o Jumbo do lado direito e nesse mesmo cruzamento viram para a esquerda. A partir daí, sigam as indicações da Juicy Maps!

Depois de meses e meses sem notícias neste blog, estamos de volta! Os outros aspectos da nossa vida têm-nos roubado muito tempo, atenção e energia, mas o que é certo é que continuamos por cá e com mais  novidades.

Desde a última vez que isto foi actualizado editámos mais uma demo, de uma banda recente e que merece toda a vossa atenção: os Pussy Hole Treatment. São 30 cópias neste verde radioactivo, das quais só já há duas cópias:

Agora, as notícias frescas são a demo dos Shape, uma banda nova de Lisboa, cujos membros passaram por bandas como Taurina ou Eternal Bond. São 30 cassetes com hardcore feito com muita paixão, energia e humildade. Da forma que é suposto ser…

Quanto ao som, espreitem o myspace, mas as opiniões quanto às semelhanças/inspiração clara vão de Verse, Have Heart a Bane antigo. Julguem vocês mesmos, até porque nas palavras da própria banda:

We’re back!

The new Black Rain release is out now! It is the cassette version of the Step Back! ep called Means to an End. This is a young, hard working band from Penafiel, north of Portugal that has a demo and an ep under their belt, as well as countless shows through the country. The band plays HARD core, simple as that. Fast-paced, hard hitting honest tunes in the vein of No Warning or the Cro-Mags that will get you singing along and moshing, wishing for the weekend to come so that you can vent all the frustrations and stress on the Sunday matinee pit. Isn’t that something that only hardcore allows us to do?

This ep features  6 tracks and guests such as Ricardo (For The Glory) on Punches! and Justin Schlosberg (of Hell Is For Heroes fame) singing on Miles To Go. There are 30 copies of these tapes featuring two different artworks done by the band themselves.

Also, if you can you should definitely go to this show, featuring Killing Frost, Mr. Miyagi, Step Back!, Pressure, A Thousand Words and Never Fail. It will hapen at Pin-Up Bar in Porto, on the 27th September and starts at 3PM

These tapes will be “oficially” released at this show but whenever you want you can get in touch with us to get yours…

I hope you’re all having a great summer! Personally i feel strange considering i don’t recall spending all august in town but hey, that’s how life goes these days! We’re all melting around here but we have some updates and some thoughts to share with you…

Some days ago we had a really nice surprise when we noticed the new default picture on Directions myspace:

We got even more stoked because it seems that the tapes that we sent over there are almost sold out! Kids loved it!

In other news, there’s this show happening by the end of the month. In my opinion it is the best show of the summer. I hope i can make it down there to see Soul Control.

Finally, the sad news: i just read Day Of The Dead are breaking up… This is what they had to say:

14/08/09 – DAY OF THE DEAD IS BREAKING UP! THE END IS NEAR…

Hello, boys and girls!

Unfortunately, this time around we don’t have the best of news.
Day of the Dead has been going strong for the past eight years. It’s been an amazing ride and we’ve lived and seen more than we had ever imagined when we first started practicing in Luis’ basement.
Lately, we’ve been talking about the direction we should take as a band and we’ve come to the conclusion that there’s nothing left we want to do as DOTD.
Our first wish for the band was to release a vinyl seven inch. Looking back on that naïve first wish and seeing what the years brought us, we can do nothing else but be totally grateful for everything we experienced.
So this is it, what we always knew would happen but never really thought about that much: Day of the Dead is breaking up…
It’s a sad occasion but also a happy one. It’s sad that we won’t play together anymore, that we won’t play anymore for all the friends we made throughout the world, but we’re also happy that we finish on what we feel is a high note. We think our last record is the best we’ve ever made and it just sums up what DOTD is.
We want to thank the labels, first and foremost, because they supported us immensely and put their money where most people’s mouths are. Without these guys, we’d be nothing. Our apologies go out to them for breaking up but also our most heartfelt thanks.
We also want to thank our friends. Again, we’d be nothing without you. Thanks for calling us on our bullshit whenever we made mistakes, thanks for your friendship and support, thanks for booking shows, feeding us and giving us places to sleep. You’re hardcore, you keep this going.

We will play one last show in October. There will be more information about that as soon as possible. It will be the last time DOTD will play together. If you want to see us one last time, get your act together and be there. It will be a time to remember.
