Oh hey. It’s been raining for at least a month so we’ve been watching youtube instead of tiny farming. Can you blame us? As you can see above, the Tiny…
Today is the new moon, so along with new seeds going in, here is a Tiny Farm update. The full moon seedlings moved out to their planters, and everything looks…
These have been sitting in a sunny window, but we moved them back to the shelves for a before/after. A little leggy so they’ll go outside soon. The beans and…
This is a story of hope, acceptance, intrigue, and ultimately, mistaken identity. A real garden drama. You see we started some chamomile seeds last October, hoping for tea flowers by…
Also, Jerk Squirrel sat on one of the garlic sprouts.
We planted some moonflowers and beans today, then we found a wild boar in the rainbow chard. It’s okay it was just a baby one.
You will love every sprout, but you need to thin them anyway. It helps to add them to a salad, and then you can say “yum, I LOVE these sprouts.”…
This month’s seedlings are planted out and (mostly) thriving. We planted some late garlic and sowed some more carrots. Pretty good for a month when most tiny farms are hibernating.…
We noticed that the wax paper covering our sprout trays was lifting up an inch or two. Interesting. Turns out that beet sprouts are más fuertes from birth. Also up:…
Slave to a springtime passion for the earth. How Love burns through the Putting in the Seed On through the watching for that early birth When, just as the soil…
We found the idiot who’s been breaking the stems on our seedlings. It turns out a big squirrel likes to sit on them. Wonderful! Because of jerk squirrel, we’re potting…
Meet the new orange tree. Beeeeutiful! There’s a freeze warning so we’re wrapping it up in a sheet tonight (we also brought the planter boxes in). This is all very…
So mysterious! What are we planting? No really. We’re not sure. It’s too dark. More tomorrow.
Pomp, circumstance, and tiny farm ozeki. Some of the inside sprouts moved outside today. We also planted newbies: beets, shallots, oregano, and dino kale all over. Then Mr. Cafecito and…
So cute when little ones start to look like their grownup selves. The mizuna (spiky leaves), red lettuce and green onion are no longer babies. Time to graduate to their…
The warm weather is bringing up more sprouts – the kale, and three lettuces: mizuna, a red lettuce called Outredgeous, and an extra large life-of-the-party bright green one called Big…
We got the OK to cut back the existing tomato forest. Indoor sprouts are looking good, and the warm weather has brought up a sprout outside. Good luck little buddy.
This is what tiny farmers do in January.
This took a long time. Good job Mr. Cafecito.
These are lettuces (I think).
We finished the wine boxes we got in Napa, dug up tons of weeds, then harvested some chard for dinner.
Lettuces, nasturtiums, broccoli, and chamomile started from seed in October. We harvested the lettuce recently and it was delicious.
This year we will blog our little farm and wood shop. We’re new, so try not to follow our examples. Best wishes for the new year. – Farm Cafecito
