Semi-big update

Hazel is better… we took a short ride to the supermarket this morning. No funny noises, other than a few bits of regular uneveness. Although there’s a bit of an issue with you guessed it, one of the batteries. He will come back on that if it’s a concern. He was super great with my questions and revealing a lot about the dashboard.

Moving stuff

All the required documents are filled in, with photocopies of the other things needed.

I just need to make sure it’s all looking good. And I’ve got the address to drop them off.

Other

No ceramics today. I was too busy tying up above stuff

Cab drivers. As you’ve probably been aware, I’ve a few regular drivers.  Pret is #1 but Jag looked after me when Pret was in India.

Now Jag is vying for me to shift to the other side of the river! which, in a way, is easy because most of the Accessible Properties are on the other side!

Jag picks me up from Age Concern to come home, and he knows I’ve the “list, but now my form filler has added the suburbs. And he is soon into telling whether they are rowdy or great.

I will need Prets opinion. But what he did say, not the university… but that was off the top of his head. He didn’t know if that was on the list. It’s not.

I suspect cab drivers know what is what…

And in a funny way, they are in on the secret of moving…

Both are from India, but Jag sports a bushy beard and a turban that matches his clothing. He’s also quite large. But he’s extremely kind. Pret just regular…there’s another turban wearer but he’s skinny as!

All good, although I was quite stressed.

Human to doctor yesterday morning

Hazel and Human to doctor yesterday afternoon

Add on a dreadful cooked dinner!

Tomorrow  I may run away after delivery of documents…

Update housing, Hazel, other

Housing

A phone call this morning suggests I could be outta here quite quickly

There vacancies here and there!

I do not need to do anything with the fly in the ointment scenario

I fo have to wait for my GP to fill in his bit. Next Tuesday and then call my Age Concern contact and go into city for her to fill in the rest of the form.

Hazel

Maybe getting somewhere…

Particularly as I told this manager. That I missed 2 events at the Gardens. Yes, I could easily get a cab, but there’s too much walking, possibly standing around, and I can’t do that.

Time will tell

Other

Communication with all residents is not a key need.

Especially in regards to having no water, whilst they change the system.

And then saying no hot water until today!

So i used just the cold tap.. even though it’s a mixer unit.

Go out for breakfast. Apparently, it was hot last evening about 7pm!

Other

Dumb as trust member in relationship to my new shower curtain. I had to get Bill to rectify her dumb mistake…

Ceramics

With all other issues, my mind is not quite on to things. Have no idea what the tile will look like. But it’s wonky anyway, maybe an octopus

The other is now to go to first firing. I broke 2 points off one 5 the stars…it’s clay gone to be recycled

Woven sample fabric. Realised now wrong way, will probably get my act together next time and use extruder. Like I did for Mrs Thing.

I think I need to be there earlier…

The “hoops” need creative thoughts

Well, half the moving life is probably OK

However, the fly in the ointment another story!

I’ve spent some of today musing on need creative thought

Because said fly did let a tiny bit of light into my creative mind.

I’ve fortunately made a double appointment with my GP. Hope by then to have my own ducks in a row

In the meantime, keep myself to me

Hazel isn’t really driveable, and my emails have fallen on deaf ears. That saddens me, as I’ve missed a few events we could’ve driven to.

I used Daisy, the house scooter. But unfortunately, it’s not my pal. I’d planned a wee trip… but I was scrounged up, and my back ached. I went a short distance and realised why I love Hazel. I arrive home stressed and achy so it was no time!

I could take cabs to places. But I’ve not felt like that, and the events required walking about, which I’m still finding difficult

(This difficulty has something to do with ducks in a row, maybe)

Waterless Day.

It was planned that the aging hot water cylinder would be replaced last Monday. Off all day, then cold water until it heated up.

The plumber duly turned up…

But the wrong cylinder!

Postponed until tomorrow

Ceramics

Fortunately, it is tomorrow, so it won’t bother me until I’m faced with paper plates for dinner…

I did create something last week. Maybe it will be ready to color tomorrow.

Not as many hoops needed

I’ve no idea why the Age Concern officer said it was many hoops

The forms arrived, and there are many pages

Quite a few pages, just instructions

But I was still overwhelmed.

And on Friday, I discovered there was a lot more help available.

That it was still possible even without the housing register I could still live  comfortably with my super pension.

I’ve tried many decades to get on said register. But you see, I’m not homeless. Circumstances are never taken into consideration.

( Unfortunately, my family contact member got into the play. And this isn’t her first foray into interfering with her silly ideas. I just hadn’t noticed)

On Friday, I discovered another avenue I could tap into. So I have the free phone # to call.

***

I did make a very tiny something at Ceramics on Wednesday, but I forgot to photograph.

I got overwhelmed, too many people there. I ended up in the kiln room. And I mostly chatted to others.  I didn’t go home early as I ended up talking with M about aging needs. She wanted to know about my living arrangements.

***

Other art is not happening. But that’s OK.

Made that huge decision…

Of leaving here

And living some place else in this city!

After my ride home and chat (last post)

It evolved!

***

The first proper chat with the housing officer with Age Concern took place yesterday.

Heaps of hoops to jump through

May take some time

***

I don’t need the bad food.

The officer knew about the unsatisfactory menu and the crap main cook

***

At least 2 mean spirited residents

I have to put up with nasty comments daily

Sometimes, I can flip the meanness, and they shut up because they’re wrong.

One never goes out to anything of interest. Other than doctor or purchase cigarettes.

The other alines with narcissists thinks she’s a cut above everyone but is the same woman in the next room who !@#$%^&!!!

***

I can’t remember the “exact” situation that forced this decision

But maybe it was a collection

***

Anyway, at some point, there will be moving-on news

***

For now, get back to ceramics and Arts4Health as I’ve decided the best place to make some mess. I’ve already ran that by them.

***

The pension officer somehow came to the conclusion that should be reinstated with an allowance that I’d ditched last year. I tried but seemed unsuccessfully to explain why. It’s back with bells on.

I will save as much as possible, so I’ve moving money etc.

Still summer, still here!

Summer came back with a bang, there’s been some hot days. Today’s is quite breezy, but not cold

What’s going on with me.

Let’s just forget some things!

This week, off to deal with my government pension. It wasn’t exactly pleasant, but I did have a win with TCP disability cost when the consultant said no. And I said you can’t delete, it’s a permanent payment. She phoned technical advisors and all she said was ok! She didn’t apologize.

But she had a thought that I should be living in social housing, I was having a very wobby day. I think I’m being referred to chat about that arena. I said I’d applied a few times but had been turned  down, as I had a roof over my head and could afford it. But apparently, I should have been accessed for disabled person. (Interesting)

And then I, of course, didn’t have certain paperwork, so that’s WIP. I hope to deliver tomorrow to the front desk.

Tuesday, I gave Hazel a clean.

Wednesday, I went to an interesting event, where the speaker talked about accessible housing. This I’d decided to attend when I saw it proposed weeks ago. It gave me a lot of food for thought.

Thursday today, another event, lunch at a Cafe quite some distance away. On the other side of town at Rototuna. And some yesterday’s conversation about accessible housing and life for seniors continued.

I snuck a ride back to the city with the organiser, and she knows I’m considering this not the right place…so she chatted on. At some point, I realised we had bypassed the city and closer to here. So right to the door, I invited her in for a quick view…

I need to think seriously about whether I start the process, at least get on the housing roster. Nothing is set in stone, etc. Maybe it’s worth initial chat

Other

Rather startling and VIP.

Out of blue, the repair people to resize the door decided to get on with the job. Their initial idea had been 6 weeks after deposit paid!

To cut long story short, it’s back sorted this morning, and it’s lovely to have it back!

I learned a lot of new terminology about screen doors!

Think that all

January “end of”

It’s been a weird month for me.

It’s been a weird month in the weather.

And then there’s the carpet replacement.

However

There are bright sparks if you don’t look at the darker aspects.

Whilst trying to understand the new health issues, I’ve found that I understand the mini flare-ups, and I can somehow go with the flow.

My GP again, nothing can fix it. You work through them. However, he did say I’ve another patient with it, and she’s angry too!

The carpet is all done, but my unpacking is still WIP. And that’s OK…(took a month to pack up, with pacing), so this is only the end of week 2.

The shelving wall put back in different configurations, so that has meant changes. And I changed something else since the new wall heater is smaller.

Umm,the weather went back to stormy, very wet, twigs and leaves where they oughtnt to be. Damp and gloomy.

Now, a few days ago, summer returned.

Usual off-site activities will resume mid-February. I’ve still got to deal with a few other things on semi business of life. I went into the city yesterday and spoke with the Ceramics leader.

Walking. I’m not back to full speed, but I’m a whole more steady out there. As long as I tailor in “breaks” like in stop and sit down. I won’t win a race, but that’s OK.

That my friends is pretty much a summary.

Of course there are other things to be done. Just doing it more slowly

Snippets of there…

I found myself on the 6th floor overlooking the city building and one of the entrances to Centre Place Mall. Interesting skyline

Image
Image
Day and then evening

I had hoped for a great sunset, but too cloudy.

The turquoise covered building, interesting from this view. Turned out to be a huge building, taking up a whole block under renovation

TSB is a bank…

On the 1st floor of the hotel was a long covered balcony with both dining and general seating. Some open wall space but mainly enclosed in signature and clear glass.

If the trees hadn’t been so monstrous, one could see the river. But you could see the river trail, the one that I use further east.

Let’s see what my photo gallery has to offer!

Image

Claudelands bridge, a snippet of river past the bridge, the trail with a sign to slow down.

The access to the trail there is a steep path or some stairs. Actually, I didn’t go check that at all.

Semi bad snippet

Health threw a wobbly, ended on my full day there in nothing mode. But then again,  all the sorting up and packing of my life may have added to it all.

I had not one but two major head sweats. One before I left here, the other in a very public space (at the Mall). I dawdled back to the 6th floor and collapsed.

Home carpet was all replaced, which was Saturday (this is Tuesday morning)...

To be continued… breakfast is needed..

Outta here, few nights!

Well it’s finally Thursday and all that boxing up is complete. And I’m 95% got them stacked with other receptacles in my accessible bathroom.

I still need to use said bathroom, but I hope to be on my way by 3ish..

My big ticket helpers will come by this evening and put said said other out in the corridor. I won’t be here, but they will see where I want things for the putting back day.

I’ll be back Saturday arvo and hope new carpet done and those big ticket stuff back in place. The rest I can do at my leisure…

After lunch, I need to pack my holiday bag, shove the rest of the stuff in wherever  but not on the floor. Other than some awkward stuff under the bed.

I’ve had the fan on since 6.30am…the predicted rain hasn’t shown up, but it’s a bit muggy. I do a few things then sling my hook onto bed and take a break.

Cheers Catherine

I’m staying at Ibis Hamilton Tainui. Yes it’s a hotel, but it’s for the best, 2 nights Central Cityy location, a short cab ride away.
