Welcome Julianne Chantelle Rushforth


We welcomed Julianne Chantelle Rushforth on August 15th.  She came in at 6lb 11oz 19 3/4 inches long.  We were told she probably had Down Syndrome.  We had this diagnosis confirmed a couple of weeks later.  She is strong and healthy.  She keeps getting stronger each day and getting better at staying awake to eat, nursing but is a super chill baby.  The kids love her so much and Lucy is very protective of her.  No one else is allowed to touch her when she wants to hold her.  She is very gentle with her.  She hardly fusses.  The video below is about as loud as it gets.

Todd and Claire in soccer

We have signed up Todd and Claire in soccer this season. It is Todd's first and he is pretty excited about it.

He has very tender emotions as an example during practice they had a drill to help the kids not be afraid of the herd of people everyone was supposed to dribble to the goal and score at the same time. Todd's shot bounced off the back of someones leg so while collecting it another boy was standing in the mass kicking soccer balls away from him. Todds ball became victim. He sat down and cried.

During these games Todd has to be "hurt" at some point which makes him cry and sit. Well his coach has been good to him during his first game he had his first "injury" I think he might have actually been kicked in the thigh so a real one but as soon as he sat down his coach called him to do the throw in. I think he did pretty good. He got to do two throw ins. I got pictures of it. I figure pictures is the merciful way to show 5 year old soccer.

Claire is also doing well she is just happy to be out there when she makes contact with the ball even if doesn't go anywhere she turns to look at us so excited that she kicked it.

Lucy rolls



Lucy has been rolling over for a little while now. She started doing it before we knew she had figured it out. This was taken a couple of days after we figured out the other parent wasn't putting her down for tummy time. This was taken at the end of January.

counting to Ten

I was working on math with the kids so I had Katie count my fingers while the others were working on worksheets

she counted fingers one hand at a time
1...2...3..4...5
1...2..3...4...5

Trying to get her to count to ten I asked her to count them both together so she used both her hands and pointed at both my pinkies and started counting them together until she had counted the fingers on both hands at the same time.

I told her this time count them one by one....so she started at one finger and successively pointed at my fingers one at a time saying one by one by one by one until she had got to the last finger...One day she will count my ten fingers like I was expecting but I think I enjoyed this a little more...for now.

The doctor let Dad help deliver the last part of the baby. Pull once the shoulders were out. Dad also got to cut the cord.
