...for yourself or that special someone, but you're not sure how to get it done.   You might start with… …a particular stone that you like, …you might want something similar to a piece that you see in my portfolio, …or you may just want something special for a loved one. How do you go about getting something commissioned from me? Contact me with a description of what you would like me to make. You can reach me, at reddog272@yahoo.com (or come by the *shop if you are close enough).  Include in your email, a description of what you would like, your phone number, and a price range.   If you own a stone that you want set, send a photograph wit...

Thank you all for helping us win first place for overall design in the bra for a cause fundraiser.  All in all, it brought in $4,500 to help women struggling with breast cancer.  You guys are the best.#141 - Venus; You can see more details and pictures of the creation of this bra in the last few journal posts. or at https://cosmicfolklore.ganoksin.com/blogs/The next fund raiser that I have been wrangled into is "I Walk a Mile in her Shoes," where I will wear 4" red pumps and walk a mile to help raise money to fight domestic violence and rape.  This will be four months from now, and get ready to see some pretty funny pictures of me in my pu...

I have been looking at all of your amazing jewelry, and I see one thing that stands out the most. How do you take such good photos of your pieces? My jewelry never photographs well.

Thank you!
I use a DSLR with a light tent. I just set up the shot, making sure to avoid my own reflection (or trying) and I use pieces of white paper to direct the light evenly over the piece. Use a long exposure with a tripod. I avoid macros, as they will kill your depth of field. Mostly, I use a magnifier with a 50mm.

However, I have seen really good pictures made with iPhones and point-and-shoots. The thing that makes a great picture is lighting. IMO.

Opals are a bugger though. any opal that I have pictured is 10x's better in person than the picture.

Thank you so much for the detailed reply. I don't have such a good camera as that, but I will see what I can do with lighting. That seems to be the best option for me.
And I fully agree, an opal's fire is impossible to catch on camera.
